I am thankful to all of you for your transparency....

I am thankful to all of you for your transparency. I had a breast reduction for severe back pain back in 1997 and it was the best decision of my life and insurance covered it because it was indeed "medical necessity"....my straps cut in to my shoulders a 1" plus crevice...and had horrible debilitating back pain. But here's a question to all you "veterans" out there. A kid jumped off a diving board on to my head and pushed me back down under the water. I just had my 6th back surgery (4 neck, 2 low back). I have had the inability to exercise for several years, so I have this ridiculous huge belly fat that is dis-proportionate to my body frame. Three physicians have said having this "removed" would help my mobility (therefore weight loss) and help my back pain...(my back surgeon, primary physician, dermatologist -rash all the time) and even the pain doctor...and said they would all write letters to my insurance company. They did but it was denied it saying my plan does not cover it. I did alot of research during this request period and found a board certified physician I feel confident about...so you can imagine the baseball bat to the gut when it was denied. I am frustrated and actually so are my physicians because they want a better quality of life for me. So here's my question? Is anyone aware of any "fundraising type of organizations for medical needs that one cannot afford"? I actually overheard someone recently talking about that, if I heard them correctly , but I was too embarrassed to ask ??? to a total stranger. $8500 is alot of money...but this is definitely a good cause. People with back pain would especially understand how front belly fat and gravity (the arm lift was to do something once for myself), create chronic back pain, which require strong medz which I hate to take and have side effects, oh gosh, how I could on and on. I so want to get off these pain medz or at least decreased. I am so thankful to God that I missed being paralyzed for several of those surgeries, so please don't think I am complaining. Just venting about these insurance companies...I mean even the docs are frustrated about the system when there is a real need. So hoping and praying all the research everyone has done, there might still be a way. Ideas?? Thanks for sharing everyone. I learn something every time and pray for those who need it.

Provider Review

Dr. Herbert

Dr. Herbert...very thorough...kind....he's well known in the Detroit metro area. Conservative and tells it like it is. My procedure would be a full tummy tuck, lipo contouring and arm lift....the jello jigglers are disgusting...my ex always said they look like a man's...so never got over that insecurity...that's just where my fat goes...hoping to have those done as well. He can do both procedures in one surgery - one overnight hospital stay (not in an outpatient clinic - Beaumont)
