Compression Garment - Help/advice??

I couldn't put it on when the Dr's office gave it to me, as i was flying back home w. my drains. Now that my drains are gone I have to wear this contraption. It has hook & eyes on each side & zippers over that. It goes all the way up my back w. straps over my shoulders like a bra, and it goes mid thigh. Well, for one my poor upper thighs are bulging out, its digging into them terribly, and the material rolls up. The very top under my boobs is digging in leaving marks as well. Im wide ( 38 bra band). My torso is on the short side ( i have long legs that help me get to 5'9). So when im sitting ( like right now at my desk) the sides of the garment bunch up/ripple. Its not comfortable. It leaves marks on me. And Im afraid that its not doing its job 100% because of this? Should it be helping to shape me & that shape should be smooth? I dont want to be lumpy! I feel like i have little flab roll on the top portion, and my bottom portion is just swollen. And whats with this partocular garment - Why the need for it to be down my thighs? why the need for it to have this whole back piece? I see so many people on here talk about Spanx that they wear and i have "shopped" online looking at other garments and there seems to be so many other options out there that arent like what i have on. I need to buy a second anyways, as in a few weeks I will be too small for the size Large I have on ( according tot he dr anyways), and I need one so that I have something to wear while this one is in the wash. Id rather buy ones with out the thigh portion, and this up the back over the shoulder part too. I will be sending an email with pics to Dr Ortegas office to see what they say, but I wanted to see what you all have to say as well. Help?

Before & After Pics

After a week in FL, we're back in NY

A few random things that i left out of my previous posts...

The morning after surgery I called SA as we were concerned at the amount of leakage at the drain site. We got a voice mail. No answering service. No "if you need the dr, please call...". No On-Call Dr.. No call back. That was rather concerning. I've never encountered such a thing before and it was rather alarming. I developed a hematoma after a procedure last year, was able to call my dr ( at 10pm on a friday night), where he was able to assess the situation via phone, and met us at the ER to put me back on the table. So, having had that previous experience, this was very unsettling. What IF you feel something isn't quite right? You have no choice but to go to the nearest ER? Yikes. What you may feel is drastically wrong, may be something common/normal and not actually warrant an ER visit. There really should be someone to field such calls.

I discovered a great way to hang your drains when you shower! Those fabric headbands ( you know, you wear to the gym, to clean the house, and to hold your hair back to wash your face). Slide it over your head so it is around your neck and clip your drains to it!

Advice to anyone going for a TT: Walk, Walk, Walk. Do not just lay in bed for hours on end. Take not only your prescribed meds but also Colace or something similar. Get a probiotic & fiber product as well. I mixed mine in my crystal light, so i also made sure i kept well hydrated. Eat light! Yogurtis your friend. Fruit is your friend. Salad w some protein ( eggs, chicken, tuna) are all good light ideas. They say to keep away from carbs/fats for a reason.
If you're going out of town for your TT, have your "supplies" on hand. Your pads, tape, gauze, wash, etc. And if you have time beforehand, do your grocery shopping/prepping ( make it easier on whomever is accompanying you). Stay in a hotel that has a microwave & fridge, if not a full kitchen.

My last checkup before my flight home: When I made my appointment on monday for Friday, Jenny told me to call ahead of time to see how the dr was running, to not be there just sitting in the waiting room. Called as she said and was advised that they really couldn't tell me how long i'd be there, but they would try to rush me along being that I had a flight to catch to get back home. Still waited about an hour, and they made it a point to state that they took me ahead of another patient. You could tell the Dr. was rushed to get on to his next patient. He was very nice again, very informative on how long to leave the tape on, what to do w the new bellybutton area, etc. Explained to my bf how to remove the drains. He really is very nice, and makes you feel at ease. The assistant/nurse was nice, but she really didn't do or say anything other than put on this gown &here is your girdle.

Now, riddle me this... If on Monday the Dr flat out told us, that he generally sends his out of town patients home w their drains, why in the world we were told that I HAD to be there for 7 days to have my drains removed before flying home? I enjoyed recovering on the beach and by the pool, sure, but that was that many more days in a hotel, of restaurant food, of a rental car, etc. - Just a tad frustrating.

I can't wait til the output of these drains becomes low & steady so that they can be removed and I can get in my girdle and not just this binder thing!

Now for a relaxing evening of the Belmont Stakes ( Go California Chrome!) and then the Rangers game. Back to work on monday, and monday will come fast!
