60mg, my face is drier that usual. I've been so tempted to add products to my daily face cleansing, prepping, and moisturizing routine... to hydrate my skin. however, I'm skeptical to a disturb the 'balance' now. I don't have any active pimples, maybe 1 but it's ok. just scars and PIH. I'm ditching the ceravePM as it is just not working as well as the ceraveAM for me. Thinking of adding a thicker and more moisturizing cream for nighttime... but I'm not sure which product I should try without giving myself a setback.
Another dilemma I am having is switching makeup. What I'm currently using and have been using without causing breakouts is the neutrogena skinclearing foundation... BUT it does contain SA, which might be drying my dry skin even more so. Similar to the switching up my routine described above, I'm just reluctant to try new stuff on my face, especially make up.
FirstAidBeauty has helped tremendously on my hand eczema. Will keep you guys updated when I start my fourth month! Good luck n lots of cheers

Day 66 (Starting Month 3!)

nothing much as changed actually. I have not had any (noticeable) active breakouts/pimples anymore except for the occasionally white heads which go away pretty quickly. Doing pretty well overall. My derm bumped me up to 60mg and I've been extra careful about staying hydrated and moisturized.
As you can probably see in the pics, the PIHs are still there... they look like they are fading but idk, what do you think???? Might be too soon to tell anyways, but those are my biggest concern right now. Since I've been through hell and back, dealing with PIH > active acne, so I am not complaining. It's just you don't notice how much PIH/scars you have when you have acne because it's underneath... or your attention diverts to the painful pimples and not the aftermarks. I think part of this hyperpigmentation was due to a bad visit to an esthetician who tried squeezing clean all of my clogged pores (whiteheads included)... successfully and unsuccessfully, but mostly the latter.
I have been working out at the gym... and I find swimming the least impactful on my joints and back. I feel very sore after any gym session but less so after a swim. My lipids level also increased when I spoke to my derm before the 3rd round of prescription but it's nothing srs so we'll just keep an eye out in the future.
I feel positive results emotionally as well, feeling confident enough to tackle the outdoors without makeup more often and it's been quite healthy for me. I'm currently using Purpose Gentle Cleanser, and CeraveAM for both morning and night. For some odd reason, everytime I use the CeravePM, I am blessed with a new friend the morning after... usually a small whitehead but enough to discourage me -- thus me using AM twice a day and not PM... let me know if you're experiencing this too!
Almost there, hopefully I'll only have to do 5 months... not sure what my cumulative dose goal is for 100lb but I have had 30mg, 40mg, and 60mg now... anticipating myself to do two more 60mg if the blood test aren't bad so I can finish in 5 months. Is that enough?
Wishing you all well on your journey. WE ARE SO STRONG, BEAUTIFUL, N CONFIDENT. This is only a chapter in our long and lively lives. Happy New Year!

It's always hard to tell in pictures, but I think your PIH has faded quite a bit! Looking good!

Day 33 (Second month!)

Switched my shampoo recently to avoid the flakes and dry scalp and it has actually worked! I'm using an organic tea tree based shampoo for dry scalp; I tried to avoid buying those specific to dandruffs because I'm almost 100% sure the flakes weren't dandruffs.
Also, I switched from 30mg/day (zenatane) to 40mg/day (amnesteem). My lab and preg. test went well, doctor didn't report anything significant. Not sure if my face is clearing up, but it def looks worst to me after switching the dosage -- maybe just less consistency in terms of complexion? Idk. Side effects have not worsened but that's partially due to me taking precautions. Had a white head that popped just next to the corner of my lip. Blackheads on nose are slowly coming out. Nothing bad to report but no significant improvement. I have been a lot happier lately (exogenous factors) so I think that helped/helps with combating the disheartening feelings that might arise when I see my face in the mirror in the morning. My acne was a lot worse though pre-accutane/dermatologist, so I also remind myself that progress takes time and I need to be patient.
I also want to mention that I wear makeup everyday because I feel not myself without it (which is bad) but hoping I won't need to cover up soon... anytime now haha, jk. Yeah, I wear neutrogena skinclearing foundation and a korean tea tree concealer that haven't caused any additional breakouts.. which I'm really thankful for. I've also been exercising this past week and joint pains aren't posing as much as a hindrance to physical activities that I used to often partake in.
Might be tmi: but I've been noticing strange period spottings/cycles. Not sure if that is induced by my recent insertion of the IUD cooper or accutane itself... but it's pretty inconvenient and it hope it regulates soon!!!

Hi there! Thank you for updating us!! I am starting in a week and I am horrified og the initial breakout. Did you experience anything really bad?
December 13, 2015
Hi! I hope your journey is starting smoothly, sending you all the wishes. I didn't notice a bad initial breakout but it can still happen anytime. I'm only on my 2nd month right now.

I am on day 9. Only thing I am noticing is some bumps coming up on my jawline and neck and chin but they are just under the skin no redness YET!

I had great results on Accutaine stick with it and you will see. It probably took about 3 months to really notice and after 6 months I was completely clear and stayed that way. I used organic coconut oil to keep my skin moist and lip balm/ Vaseline to protect my lips at all times. While on Accutaine my skin was extremely sensitive so handle with care. I hope you get the results that you desire, hang in there. It also worked great for my sister and a few friends that had cystic acne.

Hi there, always best to ask your doctor what would be best to use with your skin. Here are some doctors FAQ's that I thought you might find helpful:
What is the Best Moisturiser Whilst on Accutane?
Should I use moisturizer while on Accuatne? If so, how does it help my acne?
Accutane and Moisturizing Product?
Can I wear make up while on Accutane?
