I have just had my metal brace removed from the teeth on the lower jaw and they are all lovely and straight. However, after using his drill, to remove the bonding material, the 8 teeth are now rough to the touch. I could not get a straight answer from him as to whether this is a result of the enamel being taken off, or whether it is still glue residue there. He said its the same colour as the tooth and its hard to see where it ends and where the tooth begins! Why not use a different colour then to the tooth? Or even better, just leave it there, to be naturally eroded by time, brushing and chewing? We're always being told by someone in a white coat on TV adverts that drinking juice is ruining our teeth and we've got enamel erosion, so buy the advertised toothpaste, so why the hell accelerate the removal of the top layer of tooth, with a drill? And if this cement takes so long to wear away, in that case, why aren't dentists painting the stuff ON! TO PROTECT our teeth? Twice a day now after brushing, I'm using a towel to try to polish up the teeth. Does taking calcium supplements help? The white coated individual on TV, scares the general public by saying our enamel has gone and cannot be replaced. Is this true? Dentists and orthodontists need to take more time to explain their procedures, not, 'Sit down here, open your mouth and then let me talk at you' whilst you cannot reply, because your mouth is full of whatever they've stuffed in there!! I am still unsure whether the roughness is scratched tooth or glue residue! I could not get a straight answer, nor find out how thick the coating is, or whether it covers the entire tooth. I do know that on one tooth where the top part is super smooth old enamel, when you follow it down with your fingernail, there is then a ridge, under which the tooth is rough, suggesting the tool took away the upper layer of enamel. Not impressed! Time will tell me what is what ...

Very capable and efficiant, skilled and quick, though a little too fast to explain procedures. Not too expensive and competent certainly, but is probably following current thinking regarding the removal of the adhesive, to the detriment of the tooth!
