I'm scheduled to go in for surgery on July 17th.....

I'm scheduled to go in for surgery on July 17th...3 weeks to go and I'm getting overexcited!
I went for my first consultation back in the first week of March. I booked the appt in Jan and had hoped to get a slot in a few wks but he was so busy! No matter. It left me time to do my googling and prep work and tbh I had pretty much decided Dr Ion was going to be the one by the time March finally came around! I brought my boyfriend for moral support and also to give him a chance to ask q's and form an opinion on both the Dr and the procedure. Only fair since we live together and he'll be in charge of taking care of me during recovery and dealing with my (quite likely to happen!) fits of hypochondria;)
It turned out to be lucky he was there as we were kept waiting for 1hour and I would have been bored stiff alone. We went for a consultation with a different surgeon in Feb mainly to have something to compare dr ion to and doing that is something I would strongly recommend, even if you're fairly sure you know which dr you think you want to go with. The first Dr suggested a closed rhino and made it all sound very easy and straightforward (and about £3k cheaper) but we both felt that when we compared Ion to him it just highlighted how much more trustworthy we found Dr ion. Dr ion didn't make anything sound easy or straightforward but he came across as incredibly competent. I'm having open rhino and may also need a rib graft. Since I'm mixed race he won't know if my nose cartilage is hard enough until I'm on the table and he can check it out...and the fact that he is aware of the possibility just makes me trust him more!
I sorted out my annual leave(3 weeks) and then booked the surgery a couple of days after my 1st consultation.
I felt like it was ages away but time flies and I had my Pre Op appt earlier this week and only had to wait 30 min so progress;) and paid the surgeon fees this week as well so it feels a lot more real now.
The pre op/2nd consultation was uneventful-just confirming what we discussed back in March really and I also checked a couple of details regarding recovery since a lot of the advice found online is contradictory/depends so much on surgeons preference.

I've been stalking this site for the past 6 months and have already gathered a massive stash of recovery supplies so since I'm out of things to hoard/add to the list I thought i might as well start my review.
I'm not adding pics yet for a rather silly reason...is anyone else terrified their surgeon will call in sick the day before their op?? If I don't have it done in July I can't get another long enough break from work til Feb so Yea I'm feeling paranoid:)
I may well add some pics of the recovery when I know for sure I'm rid of ze Nose for good. I know I have found ion reviews (in particular) incredibly helpful and I know pics are pretty much the best thing ever so i'd like to help out of if I can but as I say not quite yet-just not brave enough to share yet!

Wow it's done, bring on the healing

We arrived at weymouth street hosp at 7am and left at 7pm...poor boyfriend had some dull 12 hours! For some reason I had expected to be able to leave at around 2-3 but I was feeling nauseous and sleepy and struggled to even have my sorbet. My surgery took 3.5 hours and in the end I didn't need the rib graft so easier healing. Proper update when I feel less exhausted:)
