The Nose I've Always Wanted

Recovery room
1:18
Noses, noses, noses. I've always noticed other people's noses. Probably because I've always been self conscious of my nose. I called it my squishy or my Squidward nose. (You know, the guy from SpongeBob SquarePants? Yea, him.) I would tell my parents that I felt like my nose was eating my face. They disagreed, and told me I was beautiful, but I couldn't stop thinking about my nose. The day finally came when my parents told me that if it really bothered me, that they would support me in having surgery...but only if it was something that I really wanted to do. It was my choice and my parents simply said, "Why not, if it can be fixed, then let's fix it!"

We felt it was important to find a physician that was not only an expert in plastic surgery, but also an ENT. After all, I think most will agree that being able to breathe is pretty important. I'd heard of cases where rhinoplastic surgery had caused restricted airflow and that was NOT what I wanted to sign up for. We did our due diligence and found that Dr. Bitner’s was well-qualified as both an ENT and in plastic surgery. I am happy to report that his expertise has proved to be exceptional and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results!

I am grateful my parents and I did a lot of research beforehand. After visiting with several individuals who have had the same surgery, but with different physicians, we found that their recovery, in every case, was significantly longer. Given my experience, Dr. Bitner’s techniques are more conducive to less bruising as well. I feel that it is because he makes a concerted effort to be as minimally invasive as possible. Thus, my overall recovery seemed quicker than others.

I admit, going into the surgery, I was a little nervous; but with my confidence in Dr. Bitner, I can honestly say, that my excitement far outweighed any anxiety I was experiencing. When others find out that I have had surgery, they are initially impressed that my nose looks very natural. I am told that it not only "fits" well, but enhances my other facial features. Without fail, individuals say that I must have had an excellent surgeon.

Most importantly, I love how it looks and am no longer self-conscious. My surgery has given me the freedom to focus on the important things in life and not my nose. For that, I am grateful.

Thank you, Dr. Bitner!
