At 58 years old, I have finally gotten to the point that I am going to do something for me for a change. I am 5'1" and 169 lbs. I had a c-section in 1979 and my stomach has never been the same. Anyway, I went for a consult and got all the medical clearances I needed and have my surgery scheduled for August 17, 2011!! I am Ecstatic to say the least.......

Dr. Ahmadi uses a new procedure that he developed and specializes in where he does the TT with very aggressive lipo of the back, upper abdomen, sides, hips and pubic for an overall sculpted finish. I am so excited.

Hey we are only 1 day apart in our surgeries!! I'll be checking out your progress too. I'm the 16th. Getting Extended TT w/ lipo of back/hips. Mine scar will go all the way around but scars are really the least of my concerns. I can't wait to see how you do. Sounds pretty interesting!

It is going to be here before we know it!

Same here...what time do you go in for the surgery? I go in at 7 a.m. & the surgery will start at 8. I am really trying to track everyones milestones here to be more prepared and ready for the recovery. I am having a what my surgeon calls a LipoTuck which is very aggresive Lipo of the back, sides, hips, pubic & the upper abdomen and the tummy tuck. It takes about 6-7 hours, it is outpatient and you do not have any drains at all!! Woo Hoo! I had those with my Roux N Y I had in 2002 and it was not fun so I won't miss that part. Here's to hoping we can post very soon after our surgery to see how we each are doing....I look forward to keeping in touch.

Oh My Gosh, 17 days to go!! This is quite an amazing roller coaster ride. The highs are high and the lows are low. Am I doing the right thing or not? All of the questions that go round and round in my head are driving me nuts! LOL I am excited, anxious, apprehensive, nervous, ecstatic.....wow, you name it I am feeling it right now. BUT, all in all I am extremely certain that this is what is best for me and am just praying for a speedy recovery!

Hi Robyn, I really don't think I will have any regrets. Everytime I look in the mirror it just confirms what I already know and that is that I am so miserable with this "fat suit" until my time can't come soon enough. I have been reading your updates and have been looking at the binders and all of the other stuff they have for healing post-op. Are you using any creams on your scar? I look forward to your post, take care, Shirl

Houston - we have touchdown :) Best of Luck with your surgery on the 17th. You are going to be so happy once you are on the otherside. I am 3 weeks Post Op and have no regrets. If you put aside a good few weeks for recovery, you will be fine. Just stay positive and mentally prepare for the long recovery process afterwards. Also get yourself some good binders - they are a very important part of your recovery and if you have a moment, check out my review for some pointers on having a successful recovery. Take care. Robyn

Feeling a little bummed today, I had to call in sick at work because of a fever. I went to the doc and he put me on antiobiotics so all should be clear in a day or so. Any way, I can't believe that time is passing so fast. Seems like just yesterday I was going for the consult and now I only have 14 days to go!! Wow this is so surreal now, it seems like I am just floating along...kind of strange feeling COME ON 8/17!!

Thanks Cabin_escape, I appreciate the well wishes. I will try to find your blog....
Hi there Shirl, I am not using any creams on my scar just yet. There are still scabs present and I was told to only apply aqueous cream for now after I have showered and then when the would has completely healed (around 12 weeks post op) I can start applying scar treatment. Take a look at my questions on my page, I asked the Doctors on REalself about creams/oils etc. Take a look at their responses. I was keen to try silicone strips but they are not available here in SA. My other options are Bio Oil and Essentia A but I won't be applying anything just yet :)

OK, the antiobiotics cleared me up and I feel 100% better. It is so hard to believe that in just a mere 10 days I will be in surgery OMG!! I wanted to see if you are able to go upstairs after the surgery as my bedroom is up there :-)and I really don't want to stay in the recliner downstairs if I don't have to.

Wow is time ever passing fast. I checked with my doctor and I can't climb the stairs for the first few days so I guess I will be making my arrangements downstairs around the recliner. This is a very amazing feeling just knowing what is in store, my nerves have calmed to the point that I can now sleep at night without any trouble. I am so ready for this!!

You are going to do great because you have been very active on this site and know what to expect. It really helps! I'll be honest, it SUCKS to depend on people to do everything for you and to not be able to move for days but as long as you focus on the goal you will get passed it. You will be downstairs for awhile so make sure you make it as comfortable as possible. I have been in my bedroom since surgery and don't even remember what my kitchen looks like now ha ha but its ok because with everyday that passes, I feel progress. Your surgery is going to leave you very bruised and sore..I recommend staying on pain pills every couple of hours just so you don't experience the full amount of pain. I'm sure you are a trooper as am I but this is not the time to prove that we are warrior women who can handle the pain :) I cannot wait to see your after pics!! I didn't think I wanted to take one so soon but you know what? It really boosted my spirits! To see a belly button again...its just incredible. Don't be scared or nervous...we over think this procedure and its actually so much easier. You are going to be sooooo happy..I promise

I cant wait to see your journey and transformation... keep positive and keep icing

WOW, 4 days to go....I changed my mind about the recliner idea and decided to rent a hospital bed. I am putting it in the living room so that I can be with everybody else and not feel left out. I have quite a house full with my hubby, brother, mother-out-law :-) & my mom (she will be coming in from FL for a few weeks). It will be a full house to say the least & I will probably be really ready to go back to work within about 2 weeks to keep my sanity :-) Actually, I truly love them all and will enjoy the time I get to spend with them while I am out on FMLA for 6 weeks!!

Thank you so much for the positive encouragement. Since I only have 4 days to go, I have been so busy trying to get my house in order and all of the shopping done that I have not had much time to think about the surgery. I reconsidered the recliner thing and decided to rent a hospital bed to put in the living room and be with the family and get to intermingle with everybody! I will just be so excited when this is behind me....then let the healing begin.

Well, tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. is the big day. I had my markings today and was totally shocked at how much he is going to be cutting....I feel like it will be a whole lot more that what I bargained for, but will definintely be worth it in the long run! But boy is it gonna hurt! I can already feel the pain lol. Any hoo, I am off to bed for a good nights sleep to wake fresh and rested for the long road ahead. Hopefully I will be able to update again by Thursday, we shall see.

YaHoo, I am 2 days post op and have to admit that the pain is not as bad as I was expecting! I have a few spots that burn at times, but on a level of 1-10, I would say the pain has been about a 2....BUT of course I have definitely taken the pain meds every 4-6 hrs as directed. I already feel better even with the swelling. I went in for surgery at 8 a.m. and was home by 4 p.m. I get to shower today and hopefully can get my hubby to post pics. Stay relaxed & calm everyone, it is worth it.

Day 5 post op and feeling better & stronger every day. This was a great decision! I can not believe how much better my self esteem is already. This is GREAT. My pain level if I try to not do the pain meds comes in at about 3-5. Lots of strange sensations, like crawley, burning.....weird is all I can say. I am posting my markings photos along with some 4 day po photos. I have a boatload of swelling. I feel like I am about to pop lol.

wow you r really bruised...i guess from all the lipo? I'm in houston and scheduled in jan..so excited for you...ur gonna look awesome! Congrats and thx for the pics...good to know what to expect...

Yea imgonnabebeautiful the bruising is from the lipo but that is going away quickly. I am going to try to post new pics tomorrow if hubby is willing. I am 10 days po today and not taking pain meds anymore. I am sore, but pain is gone. Finding a comfortable position to sleep in with the binder is my biggest problem since my torso is so short the binder gouges my ribs right under my breast. BUT, all in all is was the best decision I have ever made! Good luck with your surgery & I will follow your progress.
Thanks, I am feeling much better now. I am just trying to move around a lot to keep from getting stiff and whoever invented this binder/torture wrap needs to be shot(lol)!

You look amazing, what did you use for your scar? My lipotuck is scheduled for 9/16 :)

At first I didn't use anything. Then I was shopping at cvs and noticed Scar Away. They are silicone strips and they work. I would recommend them to anyone because they are easy to use and can be used everyday. Just wash them with plain soap and water while you shower. Make sure the sticky side is dry. Put them on and your done. Be faithful and you will see results. They are pricey, but so was your surgery. If you use a soft belt with certain clothing you won't have to worry about unraveling especially at night. I have the stretchy belts. It will take a few months, so be patient. Dr Ahmadi is an artist. I had my lipotuck in Oct. 2011.
Aww thank you so much! I absolutely fell in love with him and his staff, they are wonderful. I'm so excited but of course a little scared and nervous so I really appreciate your reply. Thank you so much :)
Sugar Land Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Ahmadi is the most wonderful surgeon I have ever met. Very caring, meticulous and a real perfectionist. His bedside manner is wonderful as well. Super surgeon and person.
