At 58 years old, I have finally gotten to the...

At 58 years old, I have finally gotten to the point that I am going to do something for me for a change. I am 5'1" and 169 lbs. I had a c-section in 1979 and my stomach has never been the same. Anyway, I went for a consult and got all the medical clearances I needed and have my surgery scheduled for August 17, 2011!! I am Ecstatic to say the least.......

Oh My Gosh, 17 days to go!! This is quite an amazing roller coaster ride. The highs are high and the lows are low. Am I doing the right thing or not? All of the questions that go round and round in my head are driving me nuts! LOL I am excited, anxious, apprehensive, nervous, ecstatic.....wow, you name it I am feeling it right now. BUT, all in all I am extremely certain that this is what is best for me and am just praying for a speedy recovery!

Feeling a little bummed today, I had to call in sick at work because of a fever. I went to the doc and he put me on antiobiotics so all should be clear in a day or so. Any way, I can't believe that time is passing so fast. Seems like just yesterday I was going for the consult and now I only have 14 days to go!! Wow this is so surreal now, it seems like I am just floating along...kind of strange feeling COME ON 8/17!!

OK, the antiobiotics cleared me up and I feel 100%...

OK, the antiobiotics cleared me up and I feel 100% better. It is so hard to believe that in just a mere 10 days I will be in surgery OMG!! I wanted to see if you are able to go upstairs after the surgery as my bedroom is up there :-)and I really don't want to stay in the recliner downstairs if I don't have to.

Wow is time ever passing fast. I checked with my doctor and I can't climb the stairs for the first few days so I guess I will be making my arrangements downstairs around the recliner. This is a very amazing feeling just knowing what is in store, my nerves have calmed to the point that I can now sleep at night without any trouble. I am so ready for this!!

WOW, 4 days to go....I changed my mind about the recliner idea and decided to rent a hospital bed. I am putting it in the living room so that I can be with everybody else and not feel left out. I have quite a house full with my hubby, brother, mother-out-law :-) & my mom (she will be coming in from FL for a few weeks). It will be a full house to say the least & I will probably be really ready to go back to work within about 2 weeks to keep my sanity :-) Actually, I truly love them all and will enjoy the time I get to spend with them while I am out on FMLA for 6 weeks!!

Well, tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. is the big day. I had my markings today and was totally shocked at how much he is going to be cutting....I feel like it will be a whole lot more that what I bargained for, but will definintely be worth it in the long run! But boy is it gonna hurt! I can already feel the pain lol. Any hoo, I am off to bed for a good nights sleep to wake fresh and rested for the long road ahead. Hopefully I will be able to update again by Thursday, we shall see.

YaHoo, I am 2 days post op and have to admit that the pain is not as bad as I was expecting! I have a few spots that burn at times, but on a level of 1-10, I would say the pain has been about a 2....BUT of course I have definitely taken the pain meds every 4-6 hrs as directed. I already feel better even with the swelling. I went in for surgery at 8 a.m. and was home by 4 p.m. I get to shower today and hopefully can get my hubby to post pics. Stay relaxed & calm everyone, it is worth it.

Day 5 post op and feeling better & stronger every day. This was a great decision! I can not believe how much better my self esteem is already. This is GREAT. My pain level if I try to not do the pain meds comes in at about 3-5. Lots of strange sensations, like crawley, burning.....weird is all I can say. I am posting my markings photos along with some 4 day po photos. I have a boatload of swelling. I feel like I am about to pop lol.

I had my 6 weeks check up and photos done Friday and am posting them. I am very happy with the results. Going back to work Monday....YUCK!!

Dr. Ahmadi is the most wonderful surgeon I have ever met. Very caring, meticulous and a real perfectionist. His bedside manner is wonderful as well. Super surgeon and person.

I had my LipoTuck 7 months ago and was more than please with the results. I wanted to let you know that your story was very inspiring for me before my surgery date, so thank you for sharing everything. I was so comfortable with Dr. Ahmadi that I had a breast lift and brachioplasty with him just 8 weeks ago, and 6 days ago I had a breast augment. I lost 100 pounds and it feels so great now that my transformation is complete and I have Dr. Ahmadi to thank for that.

Just wanted to say that it was great to read your story... I lost 95 lbs and have kept it off for a year... just have those stubborn areas that you can never really get rid of.... or atleast I cant. Dr. Ahmadi is amazing and I can't wait for my surgery. It's the final step in my tranformation!! =) My surgery is scheduled for August 15... sooooo EXCITED!!!!

I know what you mean about the stubborn areas, they are a real bummer!! Makes you feel like you came so far to be dragged down by them. Big congrats on your upcoming surgery date. You will be so very amazed at how good you will look & feel after Dr. Ahmadi works his magic, he is truly wonderful.

Thanks... It's nice to hear words of encouragement from someone who has had the same procedure by the same doctor. Seeing pics and hearing others stories helps to ease the nerves. It's a big decision to make, but I know it's gonna be worth it.

Looked at your pictures and they were great! Would like to know at what point did you have the last picture listed taken(week(s) or month(s).

I am scheduled my lipotuck with Dr. Ahmadi the first and getting a little neverous. Did you have the procedure done in his surgical facility? Can you tell me a little about this facility and the compentency of the staff. Was it done with only IV sedation and was a local use in abd area. Little bit apprehensive, I am a nurse and just know all the things that can go wrong. Any and all info would be appreciated

If you hold your cursor over each pic, it tells what stage I was in. The last photos with the blue background were at 6 weeks post-op.

I did have my surgery at his surgical facility which is where I thought, he does all of his surgeries. The facility is very nice and I was very pleased with the staff, anesthesiologist and the OR. I was a little surprised that after all of the bathing with HibiClens on the morning of the surgery, they still had me stand spread eagle and sprayed me down with an alcohol bath....I thought that was pretty awesome for eliminating the chance of infections. But everything went great.

@Szura you are right about allot of other women. But prior to starting my exercise I did ask Dr. Amahdi and he said I could do walking & light weights. Just to clarify, all the weights exercise I did had nothing to do with abs. I have lost 20lbs since my surgery. I just have to take it easy..Dr. Amahdi is wonderful. I love the way I look....To the women out there that are about to do it....You won't regret it!....

Yes Living Proof..you are right also. Dr Ahmadi makes sure that the "one size fits all" isn't his way of advising or treating his patients. I am older than most of his patients, and his advise to me is probably more conservative than say a woman in her 30's or 40's. I will be 66 next month, so he felt walking for me would be my limit. I am getting my pics from Claudia when I go back on Jan 9. Can't wait to post them. I love my new body..He is the best!!

@babs26 Its been going ok...I am officially 8wks/2day after TT. I started going to the gym (once a wk so far Mon 11/28 did 20 minutes of walking and light weights for my back and biceps. and was sooo sore the next day...and the next...and the next...(lol) So I decided to go again this past Mon 12/5 (a wk later)This time I started with weight training machines first...I did back,biceps,& legg press...After that I did 30 minutes of walking/jogging...I was able to do a little jogging (Keep in mind I was wearing my undergarment the 2nd time to the gym)Funny how I did feel lighter prior to when I would try to jog before my TT.... Towards the end of my walk/jog/walk...I did start feeling pain around my belly button area...I had to sleep with my undergarment last night hoping it would help with the swelling....& it did a little....but I still feel pain like when I bend over to tie my tennis shoes or bend over a little to put on my sweat pants... I wonder if anyone has ever gone through this?

Babs26, My surgery went extremely well. I did exactly what Dr. Ahmadi told me to do and was very pleased with my results. I have to say that the liposuction is the most painful and you will be sore from that for quite a while. As long as you know that going in, you should do fine. I am still reluctant to push my body since I am older than most on here and don't like pain. I have lost a total of 22 lbs and 10 inches in my waist, so I am happy........

I spoke to Dr Ahmadi about SPECIFIC areas of workout. He was very plain about what to do...walking until 12 weeks. I am reading about all these women here going to the gym and doing stuff to their bodies and then wondering why they either hurt or have swelling. C'mon ladies...not you in particular living proof...but some of the others here who either are naive or just choose to ignore what the surgeons know what will happen when they push the body to limits that can hurt their progress. Or maybe they like pain. Whatever it is, can really send negative messages to already nervous women reading these before their surgeries. Pay attention to your doctors and stop these insane heroics. You have nothing to prove anymore.

I have not experienced anxiety in bed, but then too I am on an "anti-anxiety" med so that probably helps. I am glad you called the dr. so that you could get your own confirmation that this is normal. Trust me, I called them a lot.
