I'm So Glad I Found Dr. Lyos

Dr. Lyos is an excellent surgeon and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering elective surgery. As I reached my late 50's, I was very unhappy with my sagging chin. I had always had issues with my chin, even in my younger years when I was very trim and fit. I knew this was a hereditary issue that would not go away with dieting. After researching my options, I scheduled an appointment with Dr Lyos. I had read the his reviews on RealSelf and was impressed with the positive experiences his patients reported. After meeting with him myself, I knew I had found the right doctor for the job. Dr Lyos is professional, calm and focused on finding just the right procedure to address his patient's needs. There was no intense pressure or salesmanship to persuade me to have more work done than needed. He gave me a couple of options to choose from and was very honest about the expected outcome of either of those choices. I chose to go with his suggestion of having jplasma done on my chin along with an anterior platysmaplasty. Dr. Lyos explained that this combination of procedures would address my sagging chin, and that I could expect to see some improvement throughout my neck region as well- about 70% as much as a full neck lift. Since my main concern was the sagging chin, I knew that I would be happy with this outcome.
I was very nervous about having surgery done. I have an extremely low tolerance for pain, and despise having needles put into me for any reason. I have to say, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. I reported to his office on Katie Freeway mid-morning and went into surgery an hour and a half after arriving. His surgical staff is fabulous. I have forgotten their names, but the two nurses were friendly, professional, and helped ease my nerves. I originally planned to forego having general anesthesia, but a few days before my surgery I changed my mind. I'm so glad I decided to have the anesthesia. I went to sleep shortly after being settled on the table, and didn't wake up until the procedure was being wrapped up. The whole thing was pretty painless and I was blissfully unaware of anything unpleasant in the procedure. I did not stay the night, but returned home for the evening and came back the next morning for my first follow-up.
The most difficult issue for me was the bruising and swelling. I had faithfully taken my Arnica tablets for weeks before the procedure. I tried to take Bromelain as well, but it made me sick to my stomach so I had to discontinue taking it. The bruising on my neck was pretty severe and lasted for several weeks. This was not a surprise; I have always bruised easily and knew this would be a real possibility. Thankfully, I am a teacher and was able to be home for the summer until the worst had passed. I also had a wonky smile for the first couple of weeks; Dr. Lyos reassured me that this would pass in time as the swelling went down; he was right and my smile is back to normal now.
Almost three months have passed since my surgery, and I could not be happier with the outcome. The difference in my chin is amazing! I do have some residual swelling on one side, and a small amount of bruising remains on my cheek and under my chin (it covers easily with Dermablend). Dr. Lyos has told me that it can take up to five months for all the swelling to go down and to see the full results. I return to his office every 4 to 5 weeks for injections that helps with the swelling. He always deadens the area where the injections will be given, and I have not felt any pain with that part of the process. As for the scar under my chin, it is almost unnoticeable at this point. I had read that Dr. Lyos is a master at placing scars in a way that makes them inconspicuous, and I can say that he did a great job with my incision.
This whole experience has been amazing. I am not one to spend lots of money on myself, and to be honest, this was an expensive procedure. It was worth every penny, however. My husband has a very public job; we attend many events and community activities together and are often pictured in the newspaper. I also sing in public for church, weddings, fundraisers and so on. Thankfully, I no longer cringe when seeing my picture in the paper, or standing before an audience to sing. I don't want to look like I'm in my twenties again, I just want to look the best I can for my age. Dr. Lyos has made that possible, and I'm very grateful. He's the best at what he does, and If I ever need another procedure, I will return to Dr. Lyos again. I might add that his entire staff is amazing as well and deserve kudos for taking such good care of his patients. All in all, this is one top notch team. This is where you go if you want the best in plastic surgery and care.
