Dr. Griffin preformed abdominoplasty with lipo of hips through anterior incision and lipo to upper arms bilaterally. I did my extensive "homework" prior to having procedures done by Dr. Griffin and intended to have multiple consults done prior to choosing surgeon but felt so fully confident after meeting w/Dr. Griffin and staff that I had found practice for me that I did not seek additional consultations. Dr. Griffin himself has a very genuine and calming demeanor--very real, human and definitely not flattering or patronizing, kind but plain--I had initially thought I wanted full brachioplasty performed with full incisions down both arms. Dr. Griffin explained that based on my desire to be able to wear arm-bearing sleeves in future he felt the scars would be too much/visible for me and recommended instead that I have liposuction of upper arms with his belief that my loose skin would retract adequately with fat removed to give satisfactory results--I am currently just over 1 month post-op and was actually already very happy with results after just 2 weeks had gone by. Everything was explained to me fully at consult in a way that meshed with what I had researched prior to going in. The office provides a personalized manual outlining what to expect weeks pre-op, day of procedure, days following and during recovery period--I found this to be very useful in that it was bound and served as hard copy reference, I felt this made it so much simpler to communicate with Dr. Griffin and his office as it answered most of my questions so if I had any that were not clarified by book then I could expedite time spent at follow-ups by having solid basis prior to asking for further info. I ended up not being able to urinate following surgery and was ultimately allowed to leave surgery center by nurses before peeing (they initially wanted me to before leaving but it was not happening and I did not want to be catheterized) and by later that evening I still hadn't peed so I ended up asking my friend who was caretaking to call Dr. Griffin' s cellphone (they provide his # for urgent concerns without using answering service which is nice) he eased my mind and gave suggestions to try prior to planning on going in for catheter--with his wife chiming in in background with additional suggestions--which resolved issue and was comforting after having such major day/experience. Very very pleased with overall experience, results and follow-up to date--highly recommend Dr. Griffin/Nashville Cosmetic Surgery and fully intend to seek treatment there in future for the less invasive routine cosmetic services I have done (botox/fillers) and wouild certainly go here again if I should choose any further future surgical procedures. My only suggestions for practice: 1. Fix minor typos in patient handbook--I used to proofread for a living and showed office staff marked-up book--YES, I understand this probably seems extreme but I personally care very much about fixing such errors and I was literally handing them free fully proofread (60ish pages?) handbook that the secretary did not consider taking advantage of. 2. Need better communication between pt care coordinator and anesthesia group and surgery center--I understand that it makes sense to keep separation to some extent since you pay each entity separately however my costs were not adequately communicated/updated between three entities so when I added hip lipo this caused major headache on morning of surgery as surgery center did not have accurately-updated estimated costs for me to finish pre-paying prior to procedure, this was very likely problem with their system but caused annoyance prior to procedure because they couldn't even immediately see that I had prepaid in their system and did not have updated balance due, which is major issue because if you don't pre-pay you are threatened with potentially being billed exponential amount due to regular medical procedure rate which is insanely higher than pre-pay rate. Everything has healed very quickly and I have been very very happy overall with experience.
