13 Days Out

So, I'm on week three of healing, but I wanted to give an update of how my first two weeks post-surgery went for me. When I was reading about what to expect, this seemed to vary a bit between people, but this is what worried me most!
Day 1 was terrible. I tried to go to the bathroom and passed out...and by the time my husband could get me back to the couch, I passed out three times total. The doctor said it was due to anesthesia. Not going to lie, since I couldn't get over dizziness every time I stood, my husband found paper cups and I peed in a cup. No joke.
I had 4 drains and a Lidocaine pump. I was still in a fair amount of pain. We have two couches downstairs and more pillows than any one house could ever need, so I was propped up. Over the first week, I spent the day on one couch napping on and off and sleeping on the softer couch at night. I didn’t even attempt to sleep in bed or go upstairs the first week. I lived downstairs.
Having had breast augmentation six weeks prior, I was ready for all the nausea to hit during recovery and I wasn’t disappointed. But, it wasn’t as bad as the first time. I lived on chicken soup and Jello and applesauce for the first few days but was able to start eating more regular food by day 4 or 5.
I did not have a lot of drainage and at my week 1 appointment, I had all the drains removed and the Lidocaine pump removed as well. The Lidocaine pump removal felt weird, a bit uncomfortable, but nothing terrible. The drains on the other hand, oh my goodness, those hurt like hell. The pain was unreal. I know different doctors use different drains and have different philosophies. All I can say is that thank goodness they all came out on same day. I was put on modified bed rest to help keep fluids from building up during week 2.
Week 2 – I was down to Tylenol during the day, and Vicodin at night. I was able to sleep in my own bed for a couple hours each night before having to move to the loveseat at the foot at my bed. The couch and containment of couch made sleeping much easier. By day 12 though, I could spend the entire night in my bed. I was eating fine, but still had to nap during the day. And there was a day here and there that I still slept most of the day.
I have included a few pictures of what I look like on Day 13. For some reason, the picture of my backside wouldn’t post. It was the first time I really had the energy to take pictures after my shower. My goal is to take pictures each Sunday and post an update of that week.

Over the course of eight years - dieting and exercising on and off, I dropped 135 pounds. I went from a size 24 to a size 10. I went from 305 pounds down to about 174. For the past 12 months I've worked out 5 days a week in a crossfit type setting. I am in the best physical shape of my life, yet I still have to wear loose clothing because of all the extra skin. I had a breast reduction/lift/implants in January 2016, waited about six weeks and had the lower body lift done as well. I couldn't have them both at the same time due to the length of each procedure. At some point, I might consider having my arms and inner thighs done as well, but for now - physically, financially, and mentally, I am done with surgery.

I love Dr. Zimmerman - he performed both of my surgeries. His office is quiet, not chaotic as some of the others I'd been to and his sense of humor works with mine. I'm on the snarky side and he is definitely not stuffy and rolled with my humor. I was very happy with my breast job that I chose to use him again.
