Getting back to "Normal" somewhat...

I started back to work this week. It's been exhausting and I've been pretty sore at night. Especially after day 1. I took a pain pill the first and second nights after work. Last night thankfully I didn't need one. Today I feel pretty good. I started to write an update several times, but my computer keeps locking up. So I'll try again, this time on my iPad.

I am 3 weeks PO today. My breast incisions are looking good, and my left breast has decreased swelling. My right breast looks larger right now because it is still swollen. I have full nipple sensation on my left breast, but nothing on my right breast. I'm hoping once the swelling goes down feeling will come back, but my left one has had feeling all along... So...... That's kind of a bummer, but at least they look nice. :P

My belly incision is healing and looks really good in some spots, but has some angry red spots in others. They kind of look like ingrown hairs, and they weep a little (watery blood). I'm guessing it's the stitches dissolving. I'm watching for any changes. I have my next appointment on Wednesday so hopefully she will say everything looks normal. My husband keeps telling me "well, you know you had major surgery..." Duh... I can tell I'm healing because I'm feeling sassy again.

I am on the taper down of my HRT now. I'm on week 2 of taking half my dosage. So far I seem to be doing about the same as I do on a full dose. Next week I'll start taking half a dose every other day for 2 weeks. I'm guessing that's when the hot flashes will start in again. After my hysterectomy (and surgical menopause), I got insomnia, and hot flashes, but I also felt fantastic. My energy level was amazing! I didn't realize how miserable I felt all the time until after my TLH. I'm wondering if my energy will increase again after HRT? I feel a bit like a science experiment.

I can never do things the easy way...

I had my appointment with the oncologist on Wednesday. She was very kind, and helpful. My mind was much more peaceful when I left her office. The first thing we are doing is tapering off my HRT. I've been on HRT for 4 years since my hysterectomy, and that what may have triggered the strange cells to form in the first case. I will go back in about 12 weeks to see how I'm doing off the HRT, and we will go from there. I will most likely have a breast MRI, alternating with the mammogram every 6 months. I'll have to talk to my PS about that.

I noticed last night that my BB looked like it had been weeping a little. I cleaned it off and left it uncovered overnight. So this morning it was still red looking and didn't look like anything had cleared up. I nalso oticed a raised red "spot" about an inch or more long and raised on my lower abdomen scar. It kind of looks like cauliflower. I put bacitracin on my BB and the red spot after my shower. I went in to get my stitches removed a bit ago. My PS assistant looked at everything, and started to remove stitches but after 2 of them said she didn't feel comfortable removing anymore and wants me to come back to see the PS this afternoon. She thinks I may have a yeast infection or some such thing. She doesn't know if the PS will want to put me on antibiotics, or what she will want to do. So home I am right now, and will go back in 2 hours to be seen again... I'm glad I live really close to the office. My husband has been going with to all my appointments, so he's been missing work an hour here and there for all my different appointments. I keep telling him I can go on my own but he won't hear of it.

So, now I'm going to read for a bit (book clubs in a week) before going back in. I may take an oxy in case there will be some digging around in my BB. It's still pretty numb, but just in case...

Oh, I've also fooled around a bit with the hubby (he's getting some relief anyways hahahahahahaha), but with all of my multiple incisions, I still don't feel comfortable yet.
