Before/After Comparison

Thought this was the best profile comparison to share. Top is the pre-op profile. Bottom is the post-op profile (about 3 weeks). Swelling has continued to decrease, and the stuffiness is also diminishing.

Dr. Tobias: A Genius Surgeon/Artist Skilled Beyond Measure in the Realm of Closed Rhinoplasty

This journey began six years ago when I first learned of rhinoplasty surgery and pictured myself with a different nose. I was primarily motivated to have rhinoplasty for self-esteem issues, in addition to wanting a nose that "actually" fit my face. As a 20-year-old male, I was concerned with the inevitable risks associated with any cosmetic procedure, and I was unsure of how to choose a surgeon. Specifically, I wanted to reduce the large dorsal hump that is so noticeable in the pre-op photos. A frontal view of my face shows no noticeable issues, but my profile was something I needed to change. After months of research, consultations (virtual with Covid-19), and phone calls, I finally met with Dr. Tobias (for free) and immediately knew he was the one to perform my procedure. Not only did his demeanor ease my fears, Dr. Tobias knew what I wanted before I even told him. He assured me that he would preserve my masculine facial features and never give me a "cookie-cutter nose." Dr. Tobias does not use imaging as he believes in a natural aesthetic that is best shown through hand-drawn images. After agreeing on what looked right, and what was surgically possible, I was sent for several blood tests and a COVID test as preliminary clearance. Kate and Gail, the two wonderful office assistant were there every step of the way and answered any questions I had leading up to my surgery.
All procedures are done at Englewood Hospital which is a five minute drive from Dr. Tobias' Englewood Cliffs Office. I would also note that I live in upstate New York (1.5 hrs away) and never limited my search for a surgeon due to price or distance. My tip would be to choose the surgeon who is the most credible, experienced, and charismatic. Under NO circumstance should you choose a surgeon because of a cheaper quote. Returning to the surgery day, the nurses and anesthesiologists at Englewood Health are extremely friendly and caring. After my initial paperwork, I spent about an hour in the pre-op area and then was taken to the surgery room. About 3 hours later, I awoke with a new nose (beneath my cast and bandages) and was cared for by the nurses until I was released. Dr. Tobias spoke to me post-surgery and explained what had occurred and what I should expect during recovery. All packing was taken out in the hospital (routine for Dr. Tobias).
Recovery is a year-long process, but the majority of noticeable changes and extra caution occur within the first month. During the first week of recovery, I had little pain in my nose and survived on Tylenol and Arnica-Montana pills. What did hurt (sometimes to the extreme) was my throat due to the intubation that occurs with anesthesia. My uvula swelled up, and I had some bruising in my throat/mouth. While this limited my food, sleeping, and ability to talk, it did resolve about 7 days post-operation. Occasionally this can morph into an infection, so be sure to ask your surgeon (Dr. Tobias) about this or any other concerns you may have. Additionally, my nose was extremely blocked with discharge that was later removed when the cast comes off (6 days later). Dr. Tobias exclusively performs rhinoplasties, and only uses the closed technique. As a result, I have no scars, and I experienced virtually no bruising. As the pictures show, my nose is absolutely amazing and transformed. Dr. Tobias could not have done a better job, and I see myself in a whole new light. I cannot stop staring at my nose, and everyone I see comments on how natural it looks. In fact, several friends said I looked great/different, but could not pinpoint it to my nose. This, in itself, speaks to Dr. Tobias' talent and eye for aesthetic. He will give you the nose of your dreams, and it may even exceed your expectations (it did for me). My nose looks better each day as swelling improves, and it has narrowed out. Additionally, the tip (which was defined) has rotated down to its natural position and my nostrils have evened out. Everything is on track for a smooth recovery and outstanding results. Again, I could not recommend Dr. Tobias more. He is an artist, and a down-to-earth surgeon who cares about his patients' goals. His credential rival and exceed the top surgeons in New York City, and he spends many hours traveling the world to train the best of the best on the close-rhinoplasty technique. Dr. Tobias is a pioneering genius of the rhinoplasty field, and you will not regret your own journey with him.
I could keep going for a long time, but I will stop here. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. Good luck to all! It is 100% worth doing.
