Finally! I Have Needed a Tummy Tuck Since I Was 16 - Dallas, TX

I'm 34 yrs old. 2 children, 4yrs and 18 months old. I have always felt I needed a tummy tuck since I was about 16 yrs old. The strange this is, I have never been really overweight. I just have always had loose skin around my torso, front and back. My mother would kid me about how I would probably never have stretchmarks after I got pregnant because I had plenty of skin to stretch out. She was right, I hardly have any. Before I had my children, I decided to work with a personal trainer for a whole year. I did it, and at the end of the year, even the trainer said that the only way to get rid of it was to have surgery. So, I saved money since then, knowing after having children I would do it! Gained 30 lbs with each preg., but lost it with in a yr of have having each child. My weight stays between 135 and 140, and I'm 5'3". I can't believe the time has come! I'm am so excited and SO scared! I'm getting a full tummytuck, breast augmentation, lipo on my back and thighs. Also getting an upper eyelid reduction, since I have hooded eyelids, plus the PS gave me a good deal on that since I was having everything else done. I hate that I'm such a weenie about pain!

Okay, so as of this last Friday I am paid in full, and all of the papers are signed. I'm picking up prescriptions on Monday. Getting very nervous, as it's about a week and a half away. YAY! Hoping to take before pics tomorrow.

I'm one week away. I have never quite experienced this extremely happy, extremely scared feeling all at the same time. It's overwhelming! I feel sorry for my husband...every time I bring up the surgery, which is about 10x's a day now :), his eyes start glazing over and he just nods his head. I swear if I asked him what I had just said he would have no idea. LOL!! It's okay though, it feels good just to voice all my concerns! Pretty much have all the things I need, except a wedge pillow...I'll pick it up this weekend. Also haven't found the hibicleans..is it prescription or do you just pick it up at the store?

5 more days to go. Got a wedge pillow, and a few other things today. Today was a good day, I felt strong about my decision and less queasy about it. I'm hoping it stays that way.

Well, it's Monday and my surgery is Thursday! I'm actually so busy that I thankfully don't have a ton of time to dwell on it. Still experiencing excitement and fear all at the same time. I used this last weekend as a time to finish cleaning and buying a last few odds and ends. Wednesday is going to be crazy because I have to work 8-6, and then as soon as I get off me and the hubs have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get to the city where I'm having surgery. I have to check in at the surgery center at 5:30 on Thur morning. Whew! It's gonna be crazy!

Ok!! Finally posted some very painful before pics. I took them about a week ago, and it took me this long to talk myself into posting them. Also took care of telling the mother-in-law. Very stressful, however, she did not judge as harshly as I thought she would. Even my husband was stressed thinking she would be negative since she has no problem speaking her mind. All she said was, 'I don't understand why you would willingly put yourself through that pain when your not THAT fat'. I just said that this was the time for me to do it, and that was that! Thank God that's OVER!!!

Post op day 5! Getting around pretty good with the walker. I feel having a walker is a huge advantage. Also had first bowel movement. YAY!!! It was not traumatic at all. My husband is being very helpful with the cooking and cleaning. Going to first post op appt tomorrow, not looking forward to the 2 1/2 hr drive each way. Sister is taking me. As far as pain goes, the lipo bruises seem to be the most painful.

Post op day 7, I feel like my stomach muscles are healing, however, the lipo sights still hurt like I've been hit by a baseball bat. I guess I just thought that it would start to feel better in those spots, but I actually feel like it's worse today than ever. My worse complaint today though is the ITCHING!!!! Sweet Jesus , make it STOP! The incision sights itch, around my owie lipo spots itch, my drain sights itch, my binder itches....I'm sure you get the picture.....! I think I need to take benedryl. Thank God, I still have help with the kids right now, I don't know how I would change a diaper. Went to first post op yesterday, PS took out my eyelid stitches, everything looks good, one drain is out, the other comes out next Tuesday.

9 days later.... Feel like I'm doing better. Definitely watching the sodium intake. I'm keeping it under 1000mg a day. Also, I'm making sure to take in at least 60grams of protein a day. The last dr visit, he stressed that the higher amount of protein the faster I'll heal. So high protein Ensure drinks here I come! I'm a huge believer in the Arnica gel for the bruising. Also, I use Dermaplast spray for the itching on my wounds. I swear it was sent from heaven! I was given it after I gave birth a year and a half ago, so it was just sitting on my back shelf. Well, my itching incision sight was driving me crazy, so I got the can out and gave it a spray....Thank You Jesus for sweet relief!!! I highly recommend it! It slightly numbs it, so that it doesn't itch anymore. Yay! The bruising on my eyelids is almost completely gone. Cannot wait for the drain to come out!!!! I'm going to post more pics after the last drain comes out this coming Tuesday.

Kind of had a hard day yesterday. I guess I'm just getting tired of being sore all over. However, before I went to bed, I wanted to readjust my binder, so I took it off. For the first time when I took it off, I didn't feel like I was going to pass out. So then I decided to try on the one shirt that I haven't worn in 2 yrs, because whenever I wanted to wear this particular shirt in the past I had to wear the most tight girdle ever!! And I have to say it still looked like crap whenever I sat down. So it just sat in my closet looking pretty. Well, I tried it on...OMG! Tears came to my eyes...I simply couldn't believe it. My back was flat as a pancake, boobs looked great, and stomach was flat. And when I sat down...it was beautiful. I should have done it yesterday morning...my mood was lifted. I went to bed SO happy!!! I can't wait for tomorrow, because my last drain is coming out!!! Then I will post more pics!

12 days post op, Got my last drain out! Feeling more normal, still have some stitches in belly button that have to wait another week. Kind of a bummer, but no big deal.

15 days post op. Finally got hubby to take some after pics in the same swim suits. HUGE difference! I can't believe it's my body. Down side, I'm swelling like all get out. I can't imagine what this is all going to look like after swelling goes down, since it already looks so good to me. Still trying to overcome the extreme soreness in my thighs. I hurt worse this week than last week.

Almost at 3 wks! Feeling better today, lower stomach still sore, as well as my hips and thighs. Getting nervous because I go back to work in 2 days. I feel that my scar is looking good, but the swelling is getting out of control!!! Still making sure that my sodium level is extremely low. Hopefully I'll get relief soon.

It has been 3 wks today! I can't believe it! The time has gone by quickly for me. Went back to work today for the first time. Worked 5 hours, and I'm worn out!! I'm scared about tomorrow as it will be a full 8 hours. Oh well, I'm just going to take it hour by hour. This morning there was a pin size spot on my incision right in front that looked infected and had a little pus coming out. Nurse thinks that I am 'spitting a stitch'. I'm praying that is what it is, and it clears up fast. Forgot to post that at my last post op visit, he took the rest of my belly button stitches out, and it looks great!

OK! I'm going to update because I went and saw the PS today about the "spitting stitch". It was not going away, so I called the nurse on Friday, and she said to get tweezers and pull the stitch out far enough to clip it. Well, I tried, but the pain was too intense...I almost passed out. So she said if by Monday it's still irritated to come in. The PS ended up seeing me, and he told me to stand up while he looked at it. He said yes it's a stitch that won't dissolve and he would pull it out and clip it. What I have failed to mention is that the area that the stitch was coming out of was extremely sore and oozing. Yuck, I know. He literally dug into the sore with the tweezers pulled it out and clipped it...the pain was SO intense my knees started shaking and I broke out in a sweat. He then said he was so sorry , but there were 2 more stitches next to that one that he was going to pull out and clip, too. He continued to dig and pull. I'm not sugar coating this in case anyone else has to go through this. It was such intense pain that I feel that I can't even put it into words. I'm praying so hard that this doesn't happen again!!! I think that if there is a next time (God forbid) I'm going to demand some type of numbing.

2 days away from 5 wks post op! WOW! I can't believe how much better I feel and am getting around. I'm back to work full time, which does still wear me out more than it did before, but I'm working through it. Incision looks good, and the spot where the stitches came out looks like it's finally closing up and healing. The middle of my stomach is still numb...feels very strange! The area on my thighs that were lipo'ed are still a little tender, but everything looks SO much better! I'm down a whole pant size, and I've lost about 8 lbs. I'm wondering when the numbness goes away?

6 wks post op! I can't believe it's here already!...

6 wks post op! I can't believe it's here already! I feel like I'm pretty much back to normal, other than the numbness in my belly and still some slight soreness on my lipo sights. All of this was SO worth it. Everyone keeps asking me how I lost so much weight in such a short amount of time ;) Just this week I've been able to switch to spanx and throw away the binder YAY!!! One big bummer still is the swelling, but that will go away all in good time.

I'm past 9 wks post op. Can't believe it! One day blurs into the next... I'm feeling great, still dealing with pretty severe swelling by late in the day, and then wake up miraculously skinny and flat. Can't wait till I stay that way. Still numb in the center of my stomach, but not having any real pain, plus I'm able to pick up my 25 lb kid again. Still can't believe that I went through with it and it's all over, and I'm back to my normal life. So happy!
