So I do a lot of research. I've been looking on this site daily to read about experiences, if I should do it or not, if I should use Perlane or Radiesse or something else....etc. I have to read the good, bad and sad. You need to be informed, aware and your own advocate. I felt I also had to share my experience as so many others have and I have appreciated them. I went for it yesterday. I had 1.5CC split between both cheeks. I am 47 years old, I exercise regularly. Both these factors have caused volume loss in my face. I chose Radiesse over Perlane after my consult with my Dr. She went over all the pros/cons etc. I really went in thinking Perlane because I was scared to death about Radiesse and how it CAN'T be reversed. I thought ..well the first time to get my feet wet I want Perlane. BUT I was only going to get 1 syringe. After discussing this with my Dr. and her showing me HER patients before/after I decided to go with Radiesse.

Here was the scenario:
She had an ice pack ready to go for me. She ice's the injection site to help with numbing - no topical.
She went over the different sensations I could and SHOULD NOT feel. If it felt painful, stinging then tell me because I will pull it out (there are nerves in there and a sharp pain would mean she hit one). There is also a "no fly zone" meaning she would never do under eyes, temples or a patch right next to the nose. She said it is asking for trouble. She would also NEVER EVER EVER use Radiesse under the eyes. It was not meant for that.

She started the injections. It did not hurt as in tears in my eyes (botox hurts worse). It was just a slight pinch, then done, repeat. When she got done with one side she let me peak...it was a transformation for me, mind you this was just before I even swelled a bit...I had a little apple cheeks! I immediately put the ice on the injected side for a minute or two. Then I put it on the other side to numb it for injection. Same experience as the left side, except for some reason my right side wanted to swell a bit more. Between both sides she did what you see on the videos- made sure the moved the product, looked at it with several angles making sure it was where she wanted it. I then kept moving the ice from one side to the other. Then we were done. I got to her office at 2:40 (remember I had a consult too) and left by 3:50. I was not very swollen, my cheek seemed to want to bruise - the right side where I said it puffed a bit more. Got home. Put more ice on them doing the dishes on and off. My husband came home and didn't notice a thing (which is a good thing). Yes, I did not feel the need to tell him. My choice. I did keep my long hair closer to my face though :) But honestly, I looked refreshed, I had cheeks again!!!! Not too much, not too little. I wanted a natural look and I got it (thus far). This morning I am still slightly sore to the touch but no bruise that is visible. I look at least 10 years younger, it made a huge difference to me...but yet the normal friend will probably say...you look great, what moisturizer are you using? I'm at work today, I work with men...but no comments..nadda. Exactly what I wanted. THERE IS a difference, but very natural, very tasteful.

I know everyone is different, you may bruise worse you may not. You may swell worse. It really is your body and it reacts the way it wants to...BUT having said that. I grilled my Dr....do you have any patients that have bumps, HOW long will I swell, WILL anyone notice I had something done, I want it to look natural..etc. The "injector" is so important to all these questions as well. I asked so many questions I thought I was going to make her upset...nope...she expects it.

Anyway, I stalked the pages for a while and felt I had to share my experience as well.
