2 Week update

Here are some photos for my 2 week update. Phone is not that great at taking pictures, so I will use my camera the next time I take some pictures. I am using the silicone sheets on the scar, still wearing the white binder also.

Binder

I forgot to mention that this binder is so annoying. I have washed it so many times that I believe the fibers are starting to lose their tension...or something. The day of surgery it got a blood stain on it. Because I was unable to take it off, the stain was nearly impossible to come out after washing it. I realized that if I put peroxide on the blood stains within a day the stain would come out. So anyway, by the binder being on my bare skin, it would easily get dirty because of the oil from my skin. So now, I wear a cami underneath the binder, so that I do not have to wash it as often.
Regardless of all that, I have noticed that each day, I realize that I am able to pull the binder tighter and tighter. I suppose it is because my swelling continues to go down. The doctor recommended I get a good and snug girdle to go underneath the binder. Supposedly the compression helps with the swelling.

One Week Update

1 Week Update: Because I live in Alabama, there is a time difference. The drive is like two hours away (factoring in getting there early, construction, slow pokes, and traffic). I did not realize I was an hour behind Georgia time, so I missed my one week follow up appointment on Friday, so I had to call and reschedule. I had my rescheduled appointment today (Monday). The doctor took the drain out (taking a shower was always a struggle with that drain reservoir), and removed the stitches around my navel, so now I am so happy I do not have to haul that annoying drain around anymore. Some of the steri strips are still on, so I am pretty sure they will be gone within the next few days. The pain is gone, and walking is getting better. I have a high tolerance for pain, so I did not have to take any narcotic pain pills. I have taken them in the past, and I just do not like the way they make me feel. I am starting to see a big difference now compared to last week as far as the swelling is concerned. After my doctor’s appointment, I went shopping for a dress. With my new flat stomach, I was able to purchase a snug fitting dress that I definitely would not have been able to wear before. I used to always have to spend hours trying to find something loose that would flow over my big stomach, but shopping was a breeze today.
Surgery Review: Of course I do not remember a lot simply because I was under the influence; However, I will do my best to describe what happened. I arrived for surgery at 7 am for a 7:30 surgery. I had already taken the prescribed Phenergan at 6:30 for nausea. I checked in, and was put in a gown. They took pictures of my “old” body, and gave me a shot of Demerol in my hip. I then proceeded to the surgery room. An IV was put in, which was pretty quick. I laid down on the operating table, got positioned the way they needed me, and that is all I remember before surgery. After surgery, I remember saying that I was nauseous. They gave me something to puke in but nothing ever came out. I remember talking about my kids. I do not remember getting in the car. I remember sleeping the entire way home. I remember getting out of the car with my “”new” body and getting in my bed. I had difficulty getting in and out of bed. I had difficulty using the bathroom. Thank Goodness I did not have to have a bowel movement right away because there is no way I would have been able to sit on the toilet, and I definitely would not have been able to wipe my butt. It has been like a week and a few days, and I am barely able to wipe my own ass now, lol. After the day of surgery, I was able to resume my normal diet with the exception of hot and spicy foods. Also, I can remember the first day I would feel faint upon getting out of bed and standing up. I would get so hot that I would have to let the fan blow on my face to feel better while standing. A wet wash cloth did wonders during that time. Getting out of bed is still a struggle, but only because I do not want to put a lot of strain on my newly tightened stomach muscles. Otherwise, I would be walking upright and getting in and out of bed with the quickness. I do have small children, so I have to constantly remind myself to not pick them up.
Regrets: None
Future Plans: At the time of my surgery, I weighed around 226 pounds. I plan to get on some type of diet and exercise plan to lose some weight. I realize I should have lost the weight prior to surgery, but I just had to move forward with getting rid of that big stomach.
Once I lose some weight, I plan to move forward with a breast lift. I got rid of the sagging stomach, but I continue to be annoyed with my sagging boobs. I need those supersized sugar plums upright and perky.
Anyways, I plan to post some pictures of myself wearing my new dress as well as some before pictures with clothes on.
