Asian Rhinoplasty

I am an Asian American female who never loved the way her nose looked. I would not say that it was ugly or misshapen, it just was one of the least favorite features of my face. My family always said it was “cute” but I just never felt comfortable with how flat it was, and how wide my nostrils were. It got to the point where I started to avoid taking pictures, and definitely would not smile too much, since that would make my nose look even wider! I thought seriously about having a nose job in my teens, but my parents were very much against any idea of surgery, and it became something I put on the back burner. Last year, I revisited the idea of having a rhinoplasty. I made appointments with several doctors in Chicago and Indiana, and although I liked the 3 other surgeons that I saw, I really felt most comfortable with Dr. Galiano. He didn’t dive right into an analysis and recommendations of what he would do, he actually listened to what I wanted and paid attention to what I liked about my nose, and what I didn’t like about my nose. He was able to show me his planned changes for my nose with a software program that morphs what your nose looks like after surgery, and I was really happy with his plan and assessment. I booked surgery with him shortly afterwards, and the surgery itself went off without a hitch. Everyone – including the anesthesiologist, his assistant, and the nurses – were all so friendly and caring – they really calmed my nerves that day. Dr. Galiano did a great job. He called me to check up on me the day after the operation, and was always quick to respond to my questions. The best day was when the splint and dressings were removed a week later, and I could finally see my new nose. I was emotional, since I had wanted this operation for so long, and I could tell that Dr. Galiano gave me exactly what I wanted. It has now been a year since my surgery, and I love my new nose – and I can’t help but admire it every day. Thank you Dr. Galiano for being such an artist and for your gentle touch!
