Second Week & How my 1st Trays Went

Hello Again! I am finished my first set of trays and can I just say, that this has all gotten so much better! I was having issues with rubbing and pain but after those first 3 or so days things couldn't be better. I think maybe my skin has gotten used to the rubbing and toughened up so now there is no pain. The new trays did not take me back to square 1 which I am so grateful for. Removing and putting them back in is also a breeze now even though I have so many attachments! I can now do it comfortably in front of my friends which is a huge difference compared to last time- when I was in the toilet and I couldn't breathe because my hands were in my mouth and my mouth literally OVERFLOWED with saliva and I had dribble all over my uniform. It is now a quick movement to pop it out, which I am also grateful for. Honestly, that first few days I was regretting my choice to go with Invisalign but once you get used to it I honestly outdent be happier. Yes, loads of people have asked me if I got braces... But thats just because I have attachments on all of my front teeth. To be honest, that doesn't matter because I'm a teenager and LOADS of teens have braces. I believe you can actually get the attachments on the back if its that much of a problem, I read that in the booklet so it would be worth asking your Ortho about that if you are an adult and this is a major problem (be aware that this will result in a longer lasting lisp...mine lasted like 3 days and wasn't even that bad although my friends got a good laugh out of it) I honestly couldn't be happier. It is removable and I have already lost weight (even though I eat with it in... My orthodontist says that anything is okay as longs its not hot or going to stain) Other people seem to have a problem with theirs going yellow, but I am a bit of a health fanatic-always have been- and so I juice every day. Obviously I made the mistake thinking that using a straw would be fine but then I let it swish around JUST ONCE and now this set it a little bit green hahaha but you can't see it unless they're out of my mouth. My other set is green at the back o my mouth coz I eat lots of green veggies so if you are eating with them in I just recommend that you eat with your very back teeth and don't let the food come forwards unless it is white or not going to stain. Another issue which I don't think would be an issue for anyone reading this is that I play the flute and it has had an effect on my embouchure... but I think, like a lisp, that will go away once my muscles can get used to the new stuff in my mouth. I will keep you updated, but here is my before and after animation- (Before is on the bottom)

I got my Invisalign aligners and attachments...

I got my Invisalign aligners and attachments yesterday morning and it is now 10:00pm of day 2. I have 10 attachments up top and 9 on my bottom teeth. Day 1 was definitely a shocker, I kept thinking to myself 'What have I gotten myself into?!?' I figured that my teeth were reasonably straight anyway and that I could just not do the treatment. But my parents had just paid over six grand that morning and I couldn't make them pay that for nothing. My tongue is quite sore at the moment, it is a bit raw and cut up, not from playing with te aligners but just from sitting there normally. I have filed the aligners down but will have to file more in the morning when I take them out for a clean/breakfast. My teeth have (obviously) been quite sore, they feel loose...which I guess is to be expected. Eating at school was NOT graceful at all, it was a nightmare in fact. I will probably loose the fat I have gained over the last few years in the next 8 months and 13 days... I have also been talking A LOT less, which has resulted in me being constantly asked if I am alright... Talking seems to make the plastic rub against various areas of my mouth, which is quite painful. By far, the biggest disappointment is the fact that mine are certainly not invisible. When I take the clear aligners out the attachments are invisible, you can't see the at all (nearly) but it is with them in that you can see the bumps so clearly. Probably close to 15 people have asked me if I have braces in the last 12 hours of school and each time they have come up close for an examination, asking way too many questions about them and stating that they are confused and the 'braces' are weird. I even got an 'EW!' From one girl. To be honest though, this doesn't bother me too much because lots of other girls in my school have traditional braces, plates and all sorts of other orthodontic appliances... In my opinion mine looks much better than any of theirs, it's also removable so I have been able to go out to dinner etc. without them in. Removing the aligners is the biggest pain in the bum. It (for me) has been really difficult and this has caused me to mainly be consuming liquids. My teeth have definitely moved in the last 2 days, although I can't see it I can feel that the tray is much less uncomfortable and tight and also my teeth sit a little different when I have removed them.

Despite the fact that these have been a rough two days full of whining and nurofen, I can already see that tomorrow will be better so I am still excited for this treatment and am not about to give in! My orthodontist has told me to wear each set for 1 week only, I can't see anyone else who has been told this but I asked him and all of his assistants to double check many times and they confirmed that 1 week is all I need. I have 37 tray sets, so... 37 weeks of Invisalign. They will be off on Thursday the 10th of December. FEELS LIKE FOREVER AWAY! I think I will make it though, and (don't tell my mum), I took a sneak peek at my last aligners (my orthodontist gave me all 37 sets on my first appointment) and I am using them as motivation. I cannot wait until my teeth fit into them, they are so much better! If you are thinking about getting Invisalign then I say you should go for it! There will be tough times but the results are going to be amazing and I can't wait to have perfect teeth! (I know that there will be mistakes in that but I'm sure you english skills are proficient enough to decode them...because I am not editing) I will post updates on here perhaps, to stop me babbling on to my friends, who I think are already getting annoyed...
