Before and after Brest implant removal in office procedure. Minimally invasive and no down time. I am pleased with the results so far. Wearing a sports bra helps the odd feeling left from the settling and loss of volume.

Breast Implant Removal

I have had my implants for approximately 7 years. I am now 55, have gained weight, developed an auto immune disease and was uncomfortable with the size 36E. Based upon those factors, I decided on a consult with the Plastic Surgeon who performed the augmentation. After our meeting and careful consideration, I decided to opt to have them removed. I chose to have the procedure performed in office and not to include remove of the capsule. Procedure was yesterday and was very easy. I first received numbing injections to the base of the breast, which was a tight pinch. After 15 minutes, the surgeon came back in, made a small incision on my existing scar and removed the left implant. I only felt a bit of pressure and then relief when it was removed. I had the smallest implants possible to augment a lift in my 40's. However, when I saw that implant come out of me I thought "that is huge and I can't believe I carried that in my breast". It was a point of clarity for me. The right implant was a little more difficult to remove, but still was painless. A few stitches under each breast and I was on my way. The whole experience was approximately 30 minutes. I feel free and so relieved. I don't have any evidence that the implants were related to my current health issues (since no conclusive research exists). However, one of my physicians put it this way, what if there was a 1% chance it is related? That was the perspective I needed. I also felt since I gained 20 lbs after menopause (I was always very thin at a size 2 or 4 and now am a size 8) and felt my breasts were huge and tried to hide them under loose clothing and shirts. It became increasingly difficult to find shirts that fit and I will look forward to being able to wear my button down shirts again. Came home to catch the news and the FDA's official warning on the news last night affirming that implants should come with a warning. That reassured me I have done the right thing. I am concerned what my breasts will look like but have faith my surgeon is correct in that they will fluff up and look normal after time. No down time for me, back to work today, feel great, gym tomorrow. This was the perfect option for me and although I would not usually post something like this I felt if it helped one of you reading this to make your decision it was worth it, as I found real self reviews very helpful and reassuring in my decision process.
Will post pictures shortly.
