3 days post-op pic

3 days Post-op

It's been 3.5 days since my surgery. I've had a painful gas bubble in my right shoulder that has been keeping me from sleeping well. Additionally I've been barely able to eat or drink without moderate pain. I've tried water, 50/50 apple juice, cream of chicken soup, greek yogurt with protein powder, chocolate muscle milk...I am a little worried that if I can't eat anything then I'll end up back into the hospital.

As far as my surgery goes, the day of and day after I had strong stomach pain, like I was hit really hard in the stomach. And my arm was also hurting. I have a total of 5 incisions, but they look really nice so I think they'll heal pretty well with minimal scarring.

I was weighed the morning of my surgery and came in at 181.2 lbs, and I'm now down to 174.8 lbs.

If anyone has any suggestions for the full liquid diet so I can get my nutrients in I'd greatly appreciate it!

Since middle school I have had problems with my weight. Diet and exercise only helped somewhat. A few years ago I was able to lose 30 lbs before I got married, but that only put me at a 31 BMI, and it has slowly crept back up to 35. I've struggled for so long, feeling ashamed that I couldn't manage my weight.

I started the gastric sleeve journey not long ago... I have no co-morbidities so it was never an option, but I've always thought it would work if I could afford the procedure. A few weeks ago I looked into liposuction, but the cost and invasiveness was off-putting. I kept combing the RealSelf website hoping to find a miracle procedure, that's when I stumbled on the vertical sleeve. It sounded like it could be my answer, and with the help of my husband we found Dr. Pleatman.

I was nervous to give him a call, but when I did his office assistant Cari greeted me on the line. She was wonderful and answered all my questions. Cari had just come back to work from her sleeve surgery the Thursday before my call (7 days previous). She also informed me that if I was available I could have the procedure performed the following week! That's just 6 days after my initial inquiry! She explained that my situation was an anomaly, but given I was paying cash and didn't have any co-morbidities it was just a stroke of luck!

So now I'm 2 days out from my surgery and I'm a little scared, but mostly excited for this new chapter to begin.
