5 weeks post-op

So I got a break from wearing the wound-vac. Apparently having that plastic covering, the heat and some kind of reaction--I started itching like crazy and ended up scratching the bejeezers while I slept. My reprieve will is for 24-48 hours. Then the vac goes back on. For the most part, I feel fabulous!! Sure things may not look all that pretty and my shoulder and scapula are really feeling the weight of the vac, but I just carry it around like a purse and take it day-by-day. What else can you do?!

My protein level is 80-100g per day. Thank goodness for greek yogurt and protein shakes! I've upped my walking to 2.25 miles @ about 3mph. This is only about every other day. The other days--it's just a mile (Cody, my corgi, loves the daily walks!).

The pictures I'll be posting is of the wound areas and my thighs. Like I said, they don't look all that pretty, but it's getting there. I knew I wasn't going to heal quickly because I tend to bruise easily and the bruises take a while to disappear.

Comments section

I updated in my comments area. But here it is again.
So I flew back for a day to fix 2 wounds that weren't healing as well as my doc would like. Cleaned everything up and have 2 vac wound things (1 on each hip). I didn't expect my healing to go too quickly as I tend to bruise very easy and the bruises usually take a while to disappear. But carrying around my mini-vac and seeing how much improvement has been made in just 2 days is promising!! I can't wait until things look almost normal!! Well, okay, that and the swelling. I've found an awesome cream to use for the dry flaky skin! It also helps with itching as well! It's called "First Aid Repair." The cream comes in a tub--Sephora carries it for $28. I have sampled numerous creams and this by far is just THE BEST! Photos will be forthcoming.

scaly feet

My skin has been so dry and flaky. What you see on my foot is what it's like all over.
