Breastfeeding afterwards

Four years after my surgery, I gave birth to my son. I was hoping 100% breastfeed. Dr Richards did complete a lollipop vs an anchor incision, move my nipples and reduced their size, but kept the nerves attached.

My result is I can get some milk - about 33%. I didn’t think I was going care bout this at the time of my surgery. I do- it makes me sad but at least I can give one to my son.

Still happy 3 years later

It took me a very long time, years in fact to get the courage and convince myself to spend the money on a reduction. I could not be happier! I did see 3-4 doctors where I lived at one time in NC and then when I moved to Maryland /DC area I chose Dr Richards. Even though I had BlueCross BlueShield insurance in both states, NC BCBS said it was not covered or included under insurance and MD BCBS said yes. Honestly, I have less back pain, my boobs fit better in tank tops and swimsuits (I went from a DDD to a D/DD. I wish I would have reduced it a bit more. Regardless they are much smaller and the shape is way better! They don't point down and sag like they used to do and I am much more confident. On top of that Dr Richards moved my nipple higher, reduced the size and reshaped them all with minimal incision (no anchor scar!! ) and he was the only doctor out of 4 I went to that was able to do so. Here are photos 3 years post - op and there is almost zero scars!

Before and After

So happy with my results.

Dr. Franklin Richards did an amazing job on my breast reduction. After multiple opinions and waiting 10 years, I finally felt comfortable enough to go ahead. He recommended a lollipop minimal incision vs. an anchor incision like three other doctor's. His office even helped me with insurance approval. In addition post-operative he has been always willing to answer my questions. I would recommend anyone thinking about this surgery to see Dr. Richards and look no further!
