I am a very active person and as result my breasts...

I am a very active person and as result my breasts have always been very small. In fact my teenage daughter wore a larger bra size than me. I always wanted to be able to go into a normal lingerie store like Victoria's Secret and just buy a bra but had to special order my 30A size. When I hit 39 I started really considering breast augmentation. I was nearing the age where I was finished having children and excited to enter my 40's feeling sexy!

I visited a few different doctors and never felt quite comfortable. To discuss my desire to change my body physically felt deeply personal and I found myself almost feeling guilty at times. When I met Dr. Taghizadeh I knew I found the right doctor. My visit to his office started with conversation about my body and what I liked, what would make me happy. I was so comfortable that the process started feeling fun and I became excited to actually DO this for MYSELF.

During our discussions in the beginning I was always very modest, asking for a B cup but agreeing to a full C. I was surprised to find that the size of the breasts are not really determined this way. After a few visits, I had a range in cc's of what Dr. Tag believed would fit under my muscle comfortably. He explained that during the operation, while they were in there, he would determine what he though fit and looked best. Again, it was imperative that I found him - this was a lot of trust to put into another human being!

The day of the surgery we drove to the surgical center. I was nervous but the staff was extremely pleasant and the facility was very clean. The anesthesiologist was actually really funny and had me laughing. Dr. Tag came in to see me in the waiting space that felt very private. He again explained everything to me, made sure I was comfortable. A few hours later I was done.

When I woke up Dr. Tag was there. He told me the size we were able to go with. Right in the middle of the range. I was pretty out of it, but didn't have any major pain at that point. That was good because that was my biggest concern - pain during recovery and not being able to do much for 6 weeks.

The first day after surgery I took the prescribed pain killers but they made me nauseous and constipated. The day after surgery during my follow up visit with Dr. Tag during I asked if I could stop taking them. He said to wait a day and start taking ibuprofen. By the second day I was off of the pain killers and only taking Advil. The pain was not that bad. By day 4 I had to remember to take the Advil.

Over the next few weeks I healed quickly and by the 3rd week I was ready to start working out again and go bra shopping. I think the hardest part was not being active and waiting. You really do have to wait 6 weeks. But by the 6 week mark I started working out again.

Now, in my 9th week, I am running 3 miles per day again. I went bra shopping a few weeks ago and found that my cup size is larger than I thought (D) but my breasts look amazing and I am so happy with the result.

My advice to anyone thinking about this, as long as it is something you are doing for yourself, DO IT! I spent 5 hours in Victoria's Secret - everything fit - everything looked amazing. My entire body looks more proportionate and balanced. I spent less than a 1/4 of what I normally spend on my special order bras.

My other piece of advice is to not obsess on a letter, obsess on how the breast looks. No one knows if you are a b,c, d etc. Just make sure you have a doctor that you trust and that understands what size fits your body.

I did not feel comfortable enough to follow through with my 3 year desire to have breast augmentation until I met Dr. Taghizadeh. It is a deeply personal choice and I have complete confidence in his ability and his professionalism. My breasts are perfect, symmetrical, aligned they just look amazing.
