I was very skeptical about doing it before I had it done. I have 2 children (ages 3 and 1)and all my fat was being stored in my abdominal area. I did diet and exercise, and still could not remove my belly fat. I was really worried about it not working or not being worth the cost.

I decided to have the procedure done on June 25th, 2009. My starting weight was 128 and my measurements were as follows:

4" below navel- 36"
2" below navel-35.5"
At Navel- 33.5"
2" Above Navel- 30"

During the procedure, I didn't feel anything. They gave me a Valium, and it made me sleepy, so I was kind of napping while they did the procedure. That day when I got home, I slept most of the day. It became pretty uncomfortable that evening and the next day. It hurt to walk or get up. By day 3 I was moving a little bit easier, but still with pain. I was in pain for about a solid week. Not severe pain, but it wasn't mild either.

Right at about 2 weeks is when everything got better. At week 3, I was able to start working out again, and even ran a half marathon (something I did prior to the surgery). 2 weeks after, I did develop knots (I was told they were scar tissue) and was told to put a heating pad on my abs once a day and massage my stomach afterwards to try to work the knots out, and this did help with the knots.

Today marks 4 weeks since my surgery, and I couldn't be happier with it. I now weigh 126 (only lost 2 pounds so far) but look at my measurements:

4" below navel- 34" (difference of 2 inches)
2" below navel-31.75" (difference of 3.75 inches)
At Navel- 30"(difference of 3.5 inches)
2" Above Navel- 27.75" (difference of 2.25 inches)

In only 4 weeks, I have lost 11.5 inches within my abdominal area, and I was told I will continue to change up to 6 months to a year after the procedure. I can't wait to see how I look in another 4 weeks if these are the results after only the first 4 weeks.

I would do the procedure all over again! No regrets at all! It was 100% worth it.

It's been just over a year since I had the procedure done, and I couldn't be happier with my results. I am now consistantly wearing a size 4, and in some brands, I can wear a size 2. I would reccomend this procedure to anyone that has excess fat that just isn't coming off with diet and exercise.

You look great. Thanks for the pictures. Did you get all three areas done? (lower and upper abs and flanks?)
Mommyof2boys 24 Jul 2009
Thank you! I did have all three areas done.
mommyof two 23 Jul 2009
You look awesome! I also am a mother of two and had smartlipo vaser on July 1st. My results are very close to yours - very happy that I had it done. I had been mulling over the decision since last September...now I'm not sure why I waited so long. Congratulations on your new body!!

You look great!

Okay, I have a question somebody, please help me out here. For some this might be a silly question, but, when you say "flanks," what are you referring to (which part of the body?)
CrystalC (RealFriend) 25 Jul 2009
@allgra1: love handles/ the back of your hips.

I am looking into Smart Lipof or my large thighs and calves. Can any of you recommend a Dr. in St Louis, MO that you like and trust?
Mommyof2boys 10 Aug 2009

I went to {edited}. He has an office located in Fenton, MO. and Des Peres, Mo. His surgical's nurse's number is 314-686-2034- Her name is Michelle. You can tell her that Dani gave you her number. They did an great job on me. I would absolutely use them all over again. Good Luck!

Edited by Sharon: We've added your provider information to the review. Thanks!

How many areas did you have done and what did you pay?
lyndsay81283 21 Aug 2009
WOW, you look fabulous!! When did you start to see changes? I had smartlipo done two weeks ago and I haven't seen much of a difference in my abdomen and inner thighs. Thanks!!
Mommyof2boys 21 Aug 2009
Thank you! I started to see a difference right around 2 weeks out. But really could see the differnce at 4 weeks. It's been almost 2 months now, and I am still seeing changes.

I like your results! I'm assuming after having two kids that you looked at the option of having a tummy-tuck and I'm curious if you did why you chose the smart lipo? I'm looking at both options but I'm worried that the smart lipo won't take care of some loose skin I have. Looking at your pictures I think that my situation is similar. Do you have an issue with loose skin when sitting or bending over?
Mommyof2boys 3 Sep 2009
I did look into a tummy tuck, but I have never had surgery, so I did not want to scar that came along with a tuck. To me, the scar wasn't worth it. I did have a lot of loose skin, and the dr. used a vaser laser to help with skin tightening. It has helped some. I was told that it can take 6 months to a year to see results of skin tightening. There are skin tightening procedures out there that use a laser, and in Missouri, the cost is only about $500 a treatment. So if in a year if the skin still isn't tight, I don't mind going back in and just doing a skin tighten to help. The skin really isn't as bad as it was before, and I thought that it would be worse after the lipo, since I would be thinner, and it's not. I hope this helps!

Wow! Your results are awesome! I would not have imagined that those kind of results would be possible w/o having a tummy tuck. I still find it interesting in the variability of the results, in looking at several photos. Your results would be some of the best results I've seen... some photos you can hardly tell a difference. I wonder how much has to do with individual variability (genetics)/response to treatment vs. the surgeon's experience...

I am at 2 1/2 weeks after my lipo with laser. I had the lats, hips and upper/lower abs done. I can see a new "shape" in the hips and the profile of the stomach, but honestly my middle is THICK. I know they say it can take 2-3 months for the swelling to go down but I am kind of bummed out that my waist isnt looking smaller. Is this normal?? Do you think I will see more improvement over time???
Mommyof2boys 10 Dec 2009
It will be 6 months on the 25th of this month since I had my procedure, and I am still improving. It does take months. I saw the biggest changes around 4-5 months after the procedure. Hang in there and dddbe patient. It will continue to change. The doctor kept telling me these things and I didn't believe it until I saw it. But the changes will come!!!

Hi - I'm so happy to see your results. You look great! I have kids and weigh 128 and am a runner had smartlipo/vaser this morning. It's only been a few hours but I was pretty alarmed to see my stomach when I took off my compression garment tonight. It's like a deflated balloon.. and there's so much fluid still in there and it seems to be collecting above my belly button and at the bottom of my stomach. Did your stomach look good the day of the surgery? Also, how long did you wait to walk/jog for the first time? Thanks so much for your advice!
Mommyof2boys 18 Dec 2009
LOL, my stomach did look like that! I looked like that for probably a week. I had my surgery on June 25th, and on July 12th I was able to run a half marathon. It was uncomfortable and a little painful, but I was able to do it. I wore my compression garment whenever I ran or did any type of plyometrics for about the first 3 to 4 months after the surgery. The deflated balloon look does go away and everything starts to tighten up!! :)

You look great! These are the results I want to achieve. I keep this picture in my "favorites" in order to remember why I am doing this!
Mommyof2boys 9 Jun 2010
Thank you so much Lynn. I really should update the pics. It'll be a year on the 25th since I had it done, and I think my abs look amazing now. :)
Lynn1978 29 Jun 2010
Please do!
Mommyof2boys 22 Jul 2010
Ok! I finally updated photos! :) I'm not crazy about these latest photos because I feel like it looks better in person than in the pictures. But if you compare the pictures of now to before the surgery, it's pretty awesome. :)

OMG my tummy looks like your before you had the smartlipo. i really love your results. is there anything u did you help me get that way tho beside the lipo. i am getting mine done feb25th and i really would love for my tummy to look like yours!
Mommyof2boys 21 Dec 2010
Thank you so much! I have ran half marathons for a few years now, so after the lipo, I was running 3-6 days a week, or doing some sort of cardio on the days that I wasn't running. I was doing some light strength training, but I wasn't very good about being consistant with it. I watched what I was eating, but I still wasn't that good about it. I just recently started doing strength training on a consistant basis and started being very strict on my diet, and I really, really wish I would have started this right after my surgery. My abs look even better now, and I am starting to get some serious definition in them and they are flatter than ever. So I highly, highly recommend that after your surgery, make a change to eat a healthy, good diet. I am following the Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno (Her Eat Clean Diet Recharged book is the best out of all her books). Hope that helps! Good luck with your surgery!
