happy lower eye lids revision

I had an asymmetrical fat removal under my eyes...

I had an asymmetrical fat removal under my eyes done somewhere else several years ago. Although I had contemplated a revision, it was put off due to my apprehension for another bad outcome. Finally, I decided to do it and spent a year looking for a right doctor in the US as well as overseas. After consultations at different offices, I decided to trust my eyes to Dr. Dilip D. Madnani.

At my initial consultation at Dr. Madnani's office, I was enchanted by the regal beauty of his office with a magical view of Central Park in the winter. The snow looked pure and beautiful! For a moment, I forgot the icy road and stormy weather I had encountered during my 90 minute ride to Dr. Madnani's office from Connecticut. The luxuriously peaceful ambiance of the office reflected the quality of a boutique salon dedicated to bring beauty and wellness to clients. I was greeted by a beautiful and charming patient care coordinator called Christine Mignanelli. She offered me water (I didn't want any other beverage) in a fine crystal glass and a variety of chocolate. While waiting for the doctor, I had a chance to leisurely leaf through his artwork books some of which reflected my own taste for French Impressionists. The display of art works and flowers at the office told me that Dr. Madnani had a keen eye for aesthetics.

Dr. Madnani listened to my concerns very attentively and helped me sorting out what was "needed" to be done and what I "wished" to be done. After I spilled out everything that I wanted to be done, he told me that he only worked on the face and neck but not on other parts of the body, but my long narrative had helped him understand my expectations and perspective on plastic surgery. He was generous in sharing his time and knowledge. He told me his background and advised me on how best to address my concerns in a gradual approach. His assessment of my situation reflected his deep knowledge of plastic surgery as a science as well as an art. His analysis of the risk factors involved in the surgical procedure showed that he was careful about my well-being and he wanted to make sure that I fully understood all the risks and not being carried away only by the desire of having a perfect outcome. Dr. Madnani gave his notes to Christine to crunch out some numbers for me and gave me a "New Beauty" magazine as a gift. He helped me put on my winter coat before saying good-bye to me. I thanked him for his comprehensive consultation and told him how much I enjoyed his charming office. It's like a jewel box. I couldn't help not complimenting him on his unusual stylish suit. Being a scientist working with physicians, I've observed that doctors put on a tie as a necessity, much like an after-thought. It was the first time that a doctor's suit caught my attention. This told me that this doctor has a great sense of individualism/personal style and he thinks outside the box.

After my first consultation, Christine made follow-up phone calls, emails, and texting to see if I had any questions for the doctor. In reviewing the folder that Christine had given to me, I observed that the proposal was professional and comprehensive as if I had already decided to do the surgery. Being certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Madnani obviously has all the academic credentials to perform the surgery I was looking for. What won me over was the sense of perfection and the artist in him. I emailed Christine to let her know of my decision and request a surgery date. She scheduled a second consultation and asked me to submit a list of all my medications. Dr. Madnani went over the details of the surgery, took some pre-op pictures of my eyes and reviewed my list of medications. He told me to stop taking those medications and gave me a list of vitamin supplements and homeopathic remedies to minimize swelling and bruising and to speed up recovery time. He also told me not to eat certain food like garlic due to its blood thinning properties. I was given a number of prescriptions to be filled the day of my second consultation or pre-op visit. Some medications were taken pre-op and some others post-op. I was also told to have some one pick me up after the surgery. I was not to be going back home alone.

The big day finally came on Thursday, March 26, 2015. I went to the doctor's office with a bag containing all the medications prescribed. Corey, the doctor's assistant, looked at each medication to give me proper instructions on its usage. The procedure was performed at a surgery suite right at the office. I only had localized anesthesia and was awake during the whole time. An incision inside the lower eyelids was made on both eyes. This transconjunctival blepharoplasty produced no scars. I could feel the dexterity of Dr. Madnani's fingers on my eyes. He explained to me what part of the eyes he was working on. At the end of the procedure, Corey showed me a few pieces of fat that had been removed from my lower eyelids.

I was relieved that the surgery had gone through smoothly. There were no stitches, no bruises but only some swelling. Dr. Madnani gave me his cell number and told me to call him anytime as needed and asked me to come back in a week. My friend and I went to have a late lunch at Micheal Jordan's restaurant in Grand Central to celebrate the end of the surgery.

Another staff from the office, Christina, called me the day after the surgery and I told her that I had faithfully followed all the post-op procedures. I went back to see Dr. Madnani for a follow-up yesterday on Friday April 3, 2015 and we were both happy to see my eyes look refreshed and natural.

My fear and anxiety were finally over. I felt like celebrating all day. When I got out of the office, the rain just barely stopped, I felt like singing in the rain and walking to some place nearby. I went to Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery at 10 Columbus Circle to try some new food, sort of having a food adventure. Although I've eaten lots of French food and pastries I had stayed away from macarons thinking they were too sweet for my taste and could cause havoc to my pancreas. But I decided to make a bold move by tasting a pistachio macaron, my very fist macaron, yesterday. The first bite was so satisfying that I fully understood why the food critics had praised the quality of the macarons made at this store.

I felt liberated from the fear of sugar and the fear of eyelid revision in one day!

I highly recommend that you contact Dr. Madnani to discuss your concerns. He has the science and the art to rejuvenate your face and spirit too in the process. He has the compassionate bed side manners of doctors of a by-gone era and the cutting-edge technology of a modern surgeon with laser precision.

Thank you Dr. Madnani for having successfully done a revision on my lower eyelids. My thanks also go to your staff for having helped in creating a seamless process and a peaceful oasis for beauty and wellness. May God bless you on your outstanding work. We have so much to thank for on this Easter weekend.
