27 Year Old Female, Smart Lipo to my Upper Lower Abs and Flanks

I recieved smart lipo or laser lipo on my upper and lower abs and flanks about 5 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for some kind of results.

I have been the chubby girl most of my life. I was always very active and a dancer growing up but have always had an apple shape. I work out like a mad woman, and eat very good but my body doesn't respond. So I decided to do laser lipo to give myself a real women's body with a waist.

So far... I'm the same as before the surgery, but now a little lumpy and have some color splotches. I have a large framed body with a lot of muscle mass. I am 5ft 5 in and 168 before surgery. Wich is high for me, usually beteween 150 to 160. I wear a size 10 to 12.

The doctor removed 1500 cc's of fat from my stomache. It's kind of puzzling to me that almost a 2 liter bottle of fat was removed without any immediate results?...why is that mass not missing from my body. I know final results are supposed to be 3 to 6 months out, but I don't feel like I"m really swollen anymore and I feel like I can still grab all my fat. Hm.... anyone have any answers or comments?

Updated on Jan 11, 2010:

I have a lot of lumps, bumps, discoloration and one large dimple right above my belly button.  Is this normal for 3 months out  for a 27 year old active female?  I'm afraid it looks like I have more cottage cheese on my stomache now and the skin seems looser.  But the fat is still there.  I only went down an inch in all areas.  I'm worried my stomache is gonna look messed up when I"m pregnant and get worse?

This related thread might help explain things: How much weight can safely be lost with Smart lipo?

From Dr. Schlessinger's answer, 2L of liposuction is only equivalent to a pound or two in weight, but you should be starting to notice a difference in shape/contour. Have you seen any results like this yet?

I didn't really expect weight loss, but I thought I'd really see a difference in my inches and shape. My measurements are the exact same, love handles and extra set of boobs still there. So I think its just maybe the waiting game?

Yeah, it sounds likely that whatever was removed was basically "swapped out" for swelling and fluid retention, even if you're not aware of it. Hopefully it will resolve with time! :)

Hey, just came across your post and had to reply because you sound so much like me! I had Smart Lipo MPX done on my upper and lower abs, flanks and lower back on 16th November 09 to give me a more defined shape - I'm a dancer too, I dance like crazy, plus train at the gym, eat healthy etc, so you'd think that my figure would be pretty good...wrong! I still had stubborn belly fat and handles that refused to go. This is Day 6 after the procedure, and I can see that I don't have my rolls of belly fat, but I weigh the same and feel i look the same, and am feeling very very sore, despite taking anitbiotics and painkillers. I also have a white uvula (dangly fleshy thing at the back of my mouth), which isn't normal - it's starting to return to normal colour now, but I'm having immense trouble swallowing any food - everything seems to burn my throat except water! Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a throat infection?? Help!

Though I'm certainly NO DOC, it sounds as though you may have caught some minor infection. Did you religiously take your daily antibiotics both two days before, as well as the remaining 7(+) days after the procedure? Just asking, because they prescribed me a TON of stuff; some to take prior and some to take after, to prevent this kind of stuff... Also, did you follow ALL of your Doc's instructions (IE: plenty of fluids, irritating but necesarry compression garments, etc)...

I had smartlipo MPX on Jan. 14th 2010, on my upper, lower abs, and waist..I had the fat removed at the same time...I saw immediate results...I too was sore and had lots of bruising..What Cosmetic surgery doesnt leave you bruised and sore????? Hello it is damaging the area and bursting the fat cells that we have helped create and in order to remove them surgically you should expect side affects...I go Jan. 21st to do my flanks, back waist and hips...I know that I will be sore again and bruised but by summer it will be well worth it...Did any of you have the fat sucked out the same time...That makes all the difference otherwise you have to wait for the fat to disipate naturally from the body..Also my doctor is giving me 4 velashape treatments (included in the cost) afterward to help smooth out the areas I had done..Maybe it is your doctors techniques you have to questioned...good luck to...

Hello, just wanted to say that I am really shocked that you decided to have the procedure from someone that only charged $1,500 for the most widely desired areas. The average cost for the chin area is around $2,000. But the abdomen and flank area has an average cost of $4,000-$5,500. The amount you paid is definitely a red flag for me. Take a look at the average cost for the others who posted. I can honestly say that you get what you pay for. The amount of fat that you say was removed is approximately the amount of fluid that is infused throughout the procedure for easy fat removal. At least that amount has to be removed. Maybe you should consider having the procedure repeated with a different physician.

Hey princess... yes my surgery was very cheap. It was because I recieved 70% off the normal for a friends and family discount. I went to Sonobello, which is supposed to be top of the line. They're normal price for these areas is at least $5,000. I only paid for the cost of the place, my compression garment, and meds, and my surgeon did the surgery for free... which is why I think I can't do anything about it. I was already given a huge favor. Plus, I'm worried doing it again might just make it worse. I have lumpiness all over and discoloration on my flanks still!

Hey! Am so sorry to hear about your ordeal. It was cheap really! Did you complain to your doctor? What did he say? Any procedure will give you a year's guarantee and follow up. Check with him. Also make sure you wear compressing garments which you could buy at walmart or target...you could check online too. It is called GIRDLE. Good luck!
