Cutera's Pearl and/or Pearl Fractional are the gold-standard in rejuvenating skin. Much improvement can be seen even after 1 treatment in wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, pore size, and new collagen growth. These both have a downtime period of 1 to 2 weeks, depending on how aggressive you wish to be. The final... more

A: Combinations are the key to skin rejuvenation

Mary Lupo, MD

The best results for skin rejuvenation are achieved when all causes of aging are addressed. You simply cannot talk about rejuvenation if you are tanning and smoking. Proper diet is essential. Sun damage must be corrected with topical retinoids and laser. I have found Pearl and Fraxel to be the best. Dynamic... more

Gregory A. Buford, MD

There is really no way to answer this question for everyone. A skin rejuvenation program should be designed for the individual patient with several considerations in mind: Degree of desired result Amount of accepted downtime Financial budget In addition, there are really two phases of skin... more

Dr David Gault

I do not use either microdermabrasion or chemical peels. Plasma Skin Regeneration technology is infinitely more controllable, and can effect improvements in skin laxity, skin texture (including open pores), fine wrinkling, and skin pigmentation in a single treatment. Improvement after a single treatment with... more

Henri P. Gaboriau, MD

The best way to transform dull skin is to undergo a fairly aggressive skin resurfacing procedure, such as a chemical peel, photo rejuvenation, or a high-percent glycolic acid peel.

Depending on what you are treating, there are several treatments available. For red issues - broken vessels, rosacea, ruddiness - nothing beats Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or FotoFacial Treatments. It takes several treatments to get the end result, but in addition to significantly reducing the red, the treatments also reduce pore size, stimulate collagen and overall improve the texture of the skin. For photodamage, fine lines and wrinkles, ActiveFX fractional skin resurfacing does a splendid job - keep in mind there is some downtime with this, but the results are very good. Chemical peels on a regular basis are extremely helpful in keeping the skin healthy and you don't have to have your face falling off to get good results. Bottom line though, you need to be using effective clinical products on a daily basis to improve and maintain. These products should physiologically change the structure of your skin to be effective. Don't rely on treatments alone to achieve your goals. Also... Do your research, get referrals before letting anyone treat your skin. The equipment is only as good (or dangerous) as the person using it!

For total skin rejuvenation, Cutera lasers are simply the best. They produce a clean laser pulse burst every time, with no power fading. This is a very important point: Is the laser delivering the necessary energy throughout the pulse, or at the end of the pulse are you simply heating without treating? Non-fading pulses are, in reality, a key difference between effective and ineffective treatment. Cutera lasers are also amazingly adjustable with the turn of a dial directly on the handpiece, and a single platform (the Cutera XEO) can treat an incredible array of problems: Tone (skin discolorations, age spots and melasma) Texture (large pores, irregular surfaces and acne scars) Tightness Spider Veins Hair Removal on even the darkest African-American skin Besides all that, the handpiece cools to an amazing 4°C so that patient comfort is assured.
