Track Marks After Fraxel Repair

I'm looking into Fraxel Repair, but I'm concerned about track marks. Can they be avoided? I'd rather not have to deal with bleaching creams etc. after an already difficult recovery.

Fraxel repair

there may be temporary discoloration that can even out if you have dark skin or olive skin. Some people are more prone to hyperpigmentation after any injury and lightening creams and sunblock are important. Other creams may be prescribed before and after your treatment with fraxel repair to even out the results, but there is a risk of long standing postinflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Avoiding Track Marks with Fraxel Repair

Almost all patients require more than one laser during a resurfacing case. If you use the correct combo of lasers during the treatment, the risk of track marks can be nearly eliminated.  (see my photos of Fraxel Repair cases for further explanation) Only a Board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon should be doing your treatment.  If they delegate your treatment to another staff member, go somewhere else. Your concerns should be discussed

All procedures have risks and possible complications. If you have darker skin, dyschromia is the main risk. A procedure is only as good as the physician perfoming it, so do your homework. There are never any guarantees in medicine but you can stack the cards in your favor with good care.
