Too Much Botox Injected on Area
I just had Botox for the first time and during administration, my doctor slipped and pushed the contents of the syringe instead of a measured dose. I understand that this is uncommon but am worried about what might happen. He said it would be fine but I'm not convinced. Will I experience any side effects?

Eyelid droop is the most common side effect for Botox
If your practitioner injected too much Botox, the only likely side effect would be eyelid droop if he/she injected in the forehead or brow area (between the eyes included).
When too much Botox is used in this area, the effect is to relax the facial muscles too much causing the brow and eyelids to appear heavy and droop. This will usually resolve within several months but in the meantime there's not much that can be done.

Botox effects are not long-term
Finding a physician to perform Botox procedures is extremely important as the marketplace becomes saturated with physicians and paramedical staff performing the procedure.
In your particular case, it is reassuring that you have found a physician who is undoubtedly honest and trustworthy. Mistakes can happen even in the best situation, but the approach your physician took to explain the situation to you is commendable.
Experience is absolutely necessary in acheiving optimal results with any...

Over Botox-ed area won't make a difference

Too much Botox
Administering too much Botox in one area can cause the Botox to leak into areas that you don't want blocked.
Typically you would see the desired and undesired effects of Botox at 2 - 3 days. If you don't have any problems at that point it is unlikely that you will have problems as time goes on.
I hope this helps.

Accidental injection of too much Botox.
It's a good thing that your physician told you that too much Botox was accidentally injected, so you can together be aware and watch for any problems. Chances are you will not have any dangerous long term side effects. Likely mostly just annoyance if an area is weaker or smoother than you want, but it should fully resolve over 2.5 to 4 months. If this was a standard type of injection by a licensed, traditional, ethical physician, there should have been no more than about 50 units in...

Botox Injections OK in Appropriate Doses
You definitely want to make sure you are getting treated by a licensed medical professional. Although Botox is a non surgical alternative, you do not want to let an amateur inject your face with this solution. Too much Botox can lead to drooping of the eyebrows. Other more serious side effects from Botox include symptoms consistent with botulinum toxin effects. If you have not experienced generalized muscle weakness or urinary incontinence and breathing difficulties, you...

Be sure your Botox doctor has a great deal of experience using this medicine.
Keep in mind that Botox is a very useful but very powerful medicine. When selecting a physician for Botox, make sure that they are a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. These specialties have the most experience with Botox and can help the patient get the best result.

Oops! At Least Your Doctor is Honest
Hi Bam Bam,
Any undesirable effects of the "Oops, I just emptied the entire syringe of neurotoxin into your head" injection should be apparent within 3 to 10 days after the injection. This is one case where you hope that your injector diluted or watered down your Botox. The effects will depend upon the number of units injected and the area injected.
Let us know how it turns out, hopefully no harm, no foul.

Botox over injection
I am not sure what you really mean. Was the entire syreinge injected into one area? I would doubt that. If for instance too much was injected in one area, it probably wouldn;t make a difference unless it was close to the upper eyelid where it may migrate a bit into the levator muscle of the eyelid and cause a droop.

An unfortunate first time Botox experience
BamBam
That is an unfortunate first Botox experience. Hopefully, it will not deter you from future treatments. The overwhelming majority of the millions of treatments performed each year are done without a hitch. The only way you might experience a bad side effect is if the Botox was injected near your upper eyelid and it diffuses into the muscle that controls upper opening. In that case, you would develop a droopy eyelid. At any rate, you will know within a few days following the...

Any side-effect will be temporary
BamBam,
The side-effect of too much Botox injected into one area really depends on where it was injected and how much was injected. The absolute amount of Botox injected likely is not more than 100 U (assuming that your doctor was using a highly concentrated technique and injected the entire syringe). Most likely, there was 50 or 25 units in the syringe.
Even if it was 100 units, you should not have any systemic side-effects since we inject much, much more Botox for non-cosmetic patients. ...

How much and in what area?
Botox is a great product when used carefully. It is possible to give too much Botox in one area inadvertently. It would be important to know how much "extra" was given and in what area. If too much volume is injected in one area, then the "extra" Botox can migrate to a nearby area.
For example, if the frown lines between the eyebrows was over injected, then the extra can go to the upper eyelid and cause drooping.
Since this is your first time with Botox, it is important...
