Does Taping and Icing Your Nose Help Reduce Swelling After the Removal of the Cast?

I had rhinoplasty surgery about 10 days ago now. The cast was removed 3 days ago. My nose was not taped and is very swollen especially the tip. It is difficult to tell what my nose will look like after all of the swelling, at least, I hope this is the case, since my nose and the overall look of my face is nothing to what was expected as the outcome. I would greatly appreciate your response and thank in advance.

Icing and Taping to Reduce Swelling

Answer: In my experience, re-taping and icing the nose following a cast removal does not make any significant difference. Time and patience are the most important considerations.

Taping and Icing after Nasal Cast Removal

I will occasionally tape the nose for several days after cast removal if the patient has increased swelling. Ice may feel good, but will not significantly decrease swelling. Patience is the best therapy at this time.
