Is Sun Bad for the Ear After Otoplasty?

Hi, I've been tanning a lot lately and I had my procedure done on July 13, my dad said that it might be dangerous. Is it dangerous to be under the sun a lot after ear otoplasty?

There is little evidence to support the effectiveness of scar gels.  However, some have proven to be harmful to healing of the incision.  In the face of a red, painful incision, I would seek immediate evaluation by your surgeon to rule out an infection or abnormal healing response.

Ear piercing should generally be safe by 6 weeks after ear pinning surgery (otoplasty) but you should discuss this with your surgeon.

It sounds like your surgeon placed absorbable sutures behind your ears, and most of them likely fell out by now. If there are a few remaining stitches that are bothering you, visit your surgeon and he'll remove the rest. I hope this is helpful for you.

Extreme otoplasty: Be careful what you ask for! Results may be irreversible! Individuals request body modification rather routinely. Your ears can even be attached to the posterior scalp, however, it is not adviseable and would likely create some difficult hygiene problems. My advice is to...

Swelling is quite common and prominent for 7-10 days after otoplasty. Depending on the dressing applied, sometimes the swelling around the ear lobule can be exaggerated. You may want to wait 3 weeks or so to assess early results. However, it will take 3 months to see long term results
