In my right nostril from lateral side is very visible a piece of cartilage! And it looks like that by time its getting bigger. My right nostril is completely different from the left one because of this. The right one is also bigger. My whole nose looks very weird, asymmetric and crooked. Please tell me how can this be fixed??

Answer: Cartilage sticking out after Rhinoplasty You did not mention how recently you received your rhinoplasty. However, from your photos provided you do appear to be still swollen. The swelling in your nose may be causing you to have this problem. You should wait till swelling decreases at about 1 year post op to have concerns.Hope this helps!Dr. Ali Sajjadian

Answer: Cartilage seen through nostril Your nose is a still quite swollen and with your relatively thick skin I would expect you to stay swollen longer than average - just an FYI.Nice photo. You are right, you really can see that cartilage quite well.So that is that is the tail end (distal/lateral) of the lateral crus of the lower lateral cartilage. You have a convex lateral crus. I would imagine that you have a bulbous tip prior to your surgery - at least that is more likely than not. the convexity of the that cartilage "flips" in back into the nostril cavity. When the cartilage is straight you don't see it as much. Also there might be a slight level discrepancy where the intra nasal incision were repaired. All of these things are seen from time to time. I don't think anyone at this point can conclusively state that the appearance of that cartilage is related to the other findings. It might be, but due to the swelling still present I think the jury is still out regarding weather that will be meaningful at all.So - don't despair. There is nothing to do at this point. Be patient and update us later.

Answer: Revision Rhinoplasty It is not clear from your inquiry how long ago your rhinoplasty was. It appears to be no more than a month or so old. The asymmetry in your nasal tip may be due to swelling or differences in the caudal edges of the lower alar cartilages. It is not clear that what you are seeing on your right nostril is actual cartilage and that would be an unusual place for any loose cartilage to be. You need to be patient and wait at least six months to let the nose settle so the final result can be seen before contemplating any type of revision.
