What it is: SmartLipo is a device used in laser-assisted lipolysis -- which means that a laser is used to melt or dissolve fat cells, followed by suction to remove it. The laser component of SmartLipo may provide skin tightening in addition to fat removal.

Question

How soon can I start running after Smart Lipo?

I'm a regular runner who is interested in Smart Lipo on my abdomen and sides but am anxious about how long I'll be unable to run after the procedure.

I agree, take a break for 1 to 2 weeks from running.

I would also recommend that you stop running for one to two weeks.  After the downtime, you may find it useful to wear a stage 2 garment while running.  Some find the compression feels good and cuts down on the mild soreness that you might experience after Smart Lipo.  Also, don't forgot to incorporate resistance training in your exercise regimen, whether it be weight lifting, resistance bands, or some other resistance exercise.  Building muscle through resistance training is among the most effective ways to lose fat!

i would recommend that you hold off doing vigorous exercising, like running (I am a runner myself so i am sympathetic to your wanting to get back to running asap) for 7-10 days. i let my pts shower the next do and do regular things like long slower walks etc very early on.
