It is safe to have a skin tightening treatment such as Thermage radio frequency after having Juvederm injections. You should wait about 2 weeks after the injections before having Thermage to make certain any swelling or bruising has subsided.
There are several studies which have looked carefully at this question and indicated that RF waves do not damage fillers which have already been injected. Likewise you may have fillers following RF treatment without any adverse effect. They are actually complimentary treatments.
It depends where in the skin the filler is placed. If it is being injected into or under the dermis, then yes RF tightening may heat the filler substance and alter its effect. Sometimes, Juvederm filler is placed deeper (over bone) such as in the cheeks, tear trough and temples. If placed deeper, it is less likely RF would have an impact. Until further study of this question is available, to be safe, I would separate the treatments by at least two months. We do both these treatments in our office.
