I went in for tooth pain. Dentist removed decay from broken tooth. He told me I needed a crown. After weeks of no pain I expressed I didn't want the crown. He said it was already made and necessary. I reluctantly agreed. A few weeks after getting crown, the tooth started hurting again. I went in and all he did was file down tooth to help alignment. Still in alot of pain from crown on my nerve.
Answer: Dental Crown I hate that you are having issues with your crown, but this sometimes happens and it will likely need a root canal. I would have the root canal done and then have your crown cemented in place. Best of luck.

Answer: Pain from a crown If you are having pain with your new crown, it's important for you go back to your dentist immediately, or go to a different dentist for a second opinion. Additionally, once the tooth is prepared for a crown, you will not be able to have the crown removed without having another one placed. If you feel you are having nerve pain, you may need a root canal. The best way to determine exactly what you need is to be evaluated in person.

Answer: Hurting teeth after crowns First, sorry you are having pain with your tooth and crown. I understand that you had pain prior to the dentist ever touching your tooth. It was then treated and prepared for the crown and then you did not have pain. Now you do not want the crown? Crown procedures are irreversible. You can't go back. It sounds like the tooth was sick before, you treated it with a crown and then the pain returned. Without xrays, I can only assume that the decay was deep and very close to the nerve. If so, a root canal may be necessary to relieve you of your pain. You will not lose your crown if you do get a root canal. Hope this helps.
