I am a 68 year old woman. I do have high blood pressure and diabetes which are both controlled. I have had 5 back surgeries in the last two years. I have lost 70lbs and kept it off for four years. I am 5'6" 164lbs. I would like to have your advise on this situation.
Answer: How safe is a tummy tuck for a 68 year old woman? Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. There is no age limit for plastic surgery, it all depends on your current health condition and your lab tests. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 33 or less. l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know. Good luck :)

Answer: Medical clearances Thank you for your question! It is possible to have a tummy tuck at the age of 68, with your underlying medical history. However, you will need to be cleared by your primary care physician and any other overseeing physicians prior to surgery. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: General health bigger factor Your general health, rather than age, is a bigger factor when considering suitability for a tummy tuck. Please speak to your primary physician first to see if a tummy tuck would be safe for you. With their clearance, you can then consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: How safe is a tummy tuck for a 68 year old woman? Your age by itself will not prevent you from having the surgery. Your medical health will be the key factor in making the determination for your fitness for the surgery. If your blood pressure and diabetes are controlled and your neuro or orthopedic surgeon who performed your back surgery will clear you, you should be a good candidate as your BMI is under 30. Consult with a board certified PS via Skype or in-office to discuss your goals and candidacy.

Answer: Tummy tuck Thank you for your question and congratulations on your weight loss! I typically will continue to do this particular surgery as long as you are medically cleared for the surgery. This may also encourage some doctor's to do this particular case in a hospital setting with an overnight stay vs an ambulatory center. Each surgeon will have their own protocol they wish to follow. Best of luck to you.
