Why do non-prescription cosmetic lenses make blurry vision clearer 1.5 years after PRK surgery?

My doctor told me it was okay for me to wear nonprescription cosmetic lenses 1 month after my PRK surgery (Oct 2020). I even had to get an enhancement on my left eye 7 months ago (July 2021) due to residual astigmatism. Today, my vision is still blurry but when I wear that same pair of nonprescription cosmetic lenses, my vision sharpens and becomes more crisp. Why is this?
