I am about 5 months post op! I just wanted to know if my breasts are too close together or if this is a good result? Just because nobody else’s breasts appear this close together and usually they have more of a defined cleavage ! Thanks for the input! (I did 275cc silicone under muscle, bwd = 11.5cm.)
Answer: Are my breasts are too close together? Thank you for the question and pictures. Sometimes, positioning of breast implants is a matter of personal preference; in other words, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". If you feel that your implants are too medially positioned, revisionary breast surgery will be necessary to change the outcome. In my practice, having used a variety of “techniques” for this correction, I find that the most reliable technique involves capsulorrhaphy ( internal suture repair of the breast implant pockets along the cleavage area). Often, the use of acellular dermal matrix is helpful also. I have also been pleased with the correction of skin tenting that can be achieved with the use of the acellular dermal matrix. Often, it is necessary to “open” the breast implant pocket laterally (outer breast fold) to allow for positioning of the implant centrally behind the breast mound. This maneuver may also decrease the amount of implant pressure against the medial suture line. It may or may not be necessary to use a more narrow breast implant to help prevent recurrence of the malposition. Best wishes.

Answer: Implants too close?? It is always personal aesthetics that determine what we like and do not like. If you like your breasts you should not ask other people (including experienced plastic surgeons) for opinion. Some may argue that breast are too close? Be aware of this, especially if you sleep on your stomach. Good luck.

Answer: Depends... Thanks for your question and photos. Your question is best answered by you and you alone. If you are happy with your result that is all that really matters. If you hear opinions from one or more of us regarding your outcome, your only reassurance ought to come from the fact that you are happy. "Cleavage" can mean different things to different people. Some women's breasts are close together and very pretty, and some are far apart yet still pretty. Yours are indeed quite close together but that is neither a good thing or a bad thing. When they "meet in the middle" or even cross the midline, it is a condition called "symmastia". If you are questioning your own result, please discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon. If you are still unsure, feel free to get a second opinion evaluation by another experienced plastic surgeon whose aesthetic results you find appealing. In the mean time, enjoy your pretty result. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Nice Cleavage vs Implant Malposition Essie. I appreciate your concern, however there is a significant difference between nice cleavage by placing the implants medially enough to maximally enjoy this phenomenon and the complication known as synmastia. This occurs when over dissection causes Medial Implant Malposition. It does not appear that you have Synmastia from your your photographs, but I would follow up with your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. Good luck.

Answer: They appear close together, but without pre-op pics hard to know why they look like this today. Great question for your surgeon, may have just needed a more projecting implant for your BW based upon the volume you/your PS chose for you
