Answer: Best treatment options for hyperpigmentation scar 3 month is very early in the scar maturation process so you can expect ongoing improvement for some time. No treatment for the pigmentation should be needed, but hydroquinone is an option if you felt the need to try something. If the pigmentation persists, laser treatments can be performed, but it is very premature to consider this at this time

CONTACT NOW Answer: Best treatment options for hyperpigmentation scar from abdominoplasty? Hyperpigmentation scars from abdominoplasty can be treated in several ways: 1.) Topical Treatments: Over-the-counter creams containing ingredients like hydroquinone, kojic acid, or vitamin C may help reduce hyperpigmentation. Prescription creams with stronger ingredients may be recommended by a dermatologist. 2.) Chemical Peels: Chemical peels involve applying a chemical solution to the skin to remove the top layer, which can help improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation. 3.) Microdermabrasion: This procedure exfoliates the top layer of skin, promoting the growth of new, less pigmented skin. 4.) Laser Therapy: Various laser treatments, such as fractional laser or intense pulsed light (IPL), can target and break down excess pigment in the skin. 5.) Microneedling: Microneedling involves tiny needles that create micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production and improving skin texture and pigmentation. 6.) Cryotherapy: In some cases, freezing the hyperpigmented area with liquid nitrogen can be effective. 7.) Dermabrasion: A surgical procedure that removes the top layers of skin, which can help reduce hyperpigmentation. 8.) Sun Protection: Using sunscreen regularly is crucial to prevent further hyperpigmentation and protect the healing skin. It's essential to consult with a plastic surgeon who can evaluate your specific case and recommend the most appropriate treatment or combination of treatments based on your skin type and the severity of the hyperpigmentation. Additionally, be patient, as it may take time to see noticeable improvements in hyperpigmentation scars. We would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail. Answer: Revision can be done followed by scar laser treatments Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Scar Treatment A scar can take up to a full year to mature where it will become thinner and lighter. I recommend using a silicone based scar treatment such as Biocorneum. If the appearance of the scar does not improve, I recommend speaking with your plastic surgeon to discuss other forms of scar treatment. This can include steroid injections, laser, or even a revision.

Answer: Best treatment options for hyperpigmentation scar from abdominoplasty? Hello @Jean2Marie, thank you for your question and showing your pictures. Scarring has a maturation cycle of approximately one to one and a half years depending on the patient's skin. An examination would give you more information about what can be done. Please have in mind that the scar takes different features depending on the process inherent to the patient's health and skin condition. I link a video to shed more light. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS.
