Getting mastopexy (anchor) with implants in July, I have help for for 3 weeks. When do MOST patients with this procedure get the ok to lift 20lbs? My surgeon said 6 weeks, but could be sooner so I'm curious when majority of patient get ok'd. My son is 20lbs and will need lifting to & from car seat, up & down the stairs, out of crib, & into his high chair. I'm terrified to ruin my results.
Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear fixmybewbies, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery. CONTACT NOW Answer: When do most patients get the ok for lifting after a mastopexy with implants? The timing for resuming activities, including lifting objects, after a mastopexy (breast lift) with implants varies depending on individual factors such as the extent of surgery, healing progress, and the recommendations of your plastic surgeon. Generally, patients are advised to avoid lifting heavy objects or engaging in strenuous activities for a certain period following surgery to allow for proper healing and minimize the risk of complications. Typically, patients are given specific post-operative instructions by their plastic surgeon, which may include guidelines on when it's safe to gradually resume lifting activities. While each surgeon may have their own protocol, here are some general guidelines regarding lifting after a mastopexy with implants: 1. Immediate post-operative period: In the initial days and weeks following surgery, lifting heavy objects should be avoided entirely. Your plastic surgeon may recommend limiting lifting to no more than a few pounds, if at all, during this time to prevent strain on the healing incisions and implants. 2. Early recovery phase: As healing progresses, typically around 4-6 weeks after surgery, your plastic surgeon may gradually allow you to resume light lifting activities. However, heavy lifting should still be avoided, and it's essential to listen to your body and avoid any activities that cause discomfort or strain. 3. Full recovery phase: It may take several months for your body to fully recover from surgery and for the implants to settle into their final position. Your plastic surgeon will provide guidance on when it's safe to gradually increase your activity level, including lifting heavier objects. This may vary from patient to patient based on individual healing and recovery rates. It's crucial to follow your plastic surgeon's post-operative instructions carefully and attend all follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and address any concerns. If you have specific questions or uncertainties about when it's safe to resume lifting activities after mastopexy with implants, consult with your plastic surgeon for guidance based on your unique circumstances. They can provide tailored recommendations to help ensure a smooth recovery and optimal long-term results.

Answer: Lifting after breast surgery Hello and thank you for your question! The short answer is to listen to the advice of your surgeon as he will be the one doing the procedure and each surgeon has a different post op protocol. Yes, in general the textbook says that surgical incisions will have most of the strength they need to do more strenuous activity and weight lifting around the 6 week mark. Depending on the patient and the operation, some surgeons allow some increased lifting and other commencement of certain exercises earlier than this time frame and some will even advise a little longer.
