I had my tt 8 weeks ago but around my scar looks brown darker than my skin..just in the edges right in the middle of my incision looks pretty normal . No pain..never infected.can this be due to the lipo of my flanks ? Can clear up with time?
Answer: Dark skin around TT incision Hello, sight unseen it's difficult to understand the cause of the pigmentation you are describing. However, if it is not in the same area that was contoured using liposuction, it would seem unlikely that the two issues are related.

Answer: Dark discoloration of scar It is normal for the scar to change in coloration, usually appearing darker than the surrounding skin for several months after surgery before it matures and fades to a lighter color. it sounds as though what you are experiencing is normal, though pics would help. I doubt that your discoloration has anything to do with liposuction unless a laser was used and even then it is unlikely. Best of luck with your continued recovery!

Answer: Dark skin around my TT incision Thank you for the question. It sounds as though what you are worried about is a normal part of healing. It is not uncommon for the scars to turn darker while healing secondary to inflammation. This is not because of the liposuction, but rather because of the healing that is taking place. This should improve with time and if not, can be managed with hydroquinone, laser or some combination thereof. Be patient and continue in close follow up with your plastic surgeon as they are in the best position to evaluate and treat you during your post operative recovery. This should allow you and your surgeon the chance to discuss your concerns and help allay any anxieties you may be experiencing. I hope this helps. Best wishes

Answer: Dark skin around TT incision Hi, there. Photos or direct examination will help to answer your question more accurately. Some scars may heal with dark coloration (red or brown) - this will most likely get better over 1-2 years. Once the scar matures and you still have dark scar, laser or hydroquinone product may help. I doubt that liposuction of flank would have given you the dar skin around the incision. Please check with your surgeon about his/her recommendation regarding scar management. Good luck.

Answer: Dark skin around my TT incision. Can this be due to the lipo of my flanks? Sometimes bruising can be associated with some skin discoloration following either a tummy tuck or liposuction. In most cases this discoloration will resolve over time. A moisturizer which contains a fading agent suck as hydroquinone can help speed the process. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
