I have BcBs Ill, if i have Cobra will my insurance still cover a breast reduction? Im a 36GG and want to go down to around a 36DD, if I have Cobra in Illinois, will my breast reduction still be covered?

COBRA is basically a transition insurance when you no longer are covered by your most recent insurance through your previous employer. COBRA allows you to pay for your own insurance during the transition before getting new insurance with a new employer, for example. You can only have COBRA for 18 months at which point you must have new insurance in place or you will then be uninsured. The good news for you is that all the benefits of your last insurance continue under COBRA provided you continue your payments to COBRA. If you met all the criteria for a breast reduction with your previous insurance, then you should qualify under COBRA. You still have to get pre-approval for the surgery, and a qualified plastic surgeon can help you out with that. Good Luck!

Based on your description you may be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery; it may be in your best interest to drop weight first, If you are not there already.
	The best way to obtain insurance coverage for breast reduction surgery involves some “hoops” to jump through. The more documentation you have (for example, from your primary care doctor, physical therapist, chiropractor etc.) the better when it comes to obtaining insurance “authorization” for the procedure.
	This documentation and letter/pictures from your plastic surgeon will help you obtain authorization.   Select your plastic surgeon carefully; ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. Communicate your goals carefully as well.
