Regarding Botox ® injections:

  • Don't lie flat for 4 hours after BOTOX ® treatment
  • Don't rub the treated areas for 24 hours after BOTOX ®. Never rub towards your eyes, especially when BOTOX ® has been injected near your eyes. This can lead to eyelid droop and double vision!
  • You may exercise the muscles where the BOTOX ® was injected for maximal benefit (“Make Faces”). The treatment may take effect slightly sooner. This does not have to be done in excess. Don't use your hands or fingers to help exercise the muscles.

For skin fillers such and Restylane and Juvederm:

  • For 24 Hours after treatment, strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption or sun exposure will cause temporary redness and swelling to increase
  • Don't rub the treated areas for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Ice or gel packs can be used 20 minutes at a time during the first few days to reduce pain and swelling
  • Elevate the head of your bed with pillows the night of your treatment
  • If small “lumps” are present, follow the “Rule of Threes”: Gently massage the lumps for three minutes at a time, three times a day, for three days.

Common occurrences after skin filler injections include:

  • Bruising at the injection site
  • Swelling at the injection site, increasing over the first few days before decreasing to the “long-term” amount of fullness in about 10 days.

If you have questions or problems after your treatment, call your doctor.

Wait a few hours before applying concealer or makeup, and about 6 hours for applying lipstick or gloss after lip injections. Moisturizers and your normal skin care regimen are fine to maintain the day of your injections going forward.

Consult your physician if you have any specific questions about your skin or if you think it is not looking as expected after injections.
