Hello, I'm 5 days post opp had 375cc overs and I feel terrible I can't lift my right arm much I'm so stiff and can barely walk for a few minutes I'm short of breath and my chest feels so tight Is this normal? I also wanted to ask if I could use ice packs to help with pain ive heard they help? If not what Can I use to help me and what is there to help with the tightness as I have severe asthma and I'm finding it difficult to cope with the tightness thank you
Answer: Ice and BA I generally don't recommend ice for breast patients as the implant is so far from the skin surface it does little good nor is it helpful after the point of maximum swelling, after the first 3 days.Discuss this with your surgeon and follow his directions!#iceaftersurgery#breastaugmentation#BA

Answer: Can I use ice packs? Best to run these types of questions by your plastic surgeon who knows your situation best and is ultimately responsible for your care. Regardless, patients should be very careful about applying cold or heat to recently operated upon areas; these areas will likely be numb and can potentially be damaged by excessive cold/heat that the patient does not sense . Therefore, in my practice, I ask patients not to apply either cold packs or heating pads directly upon surgical sites. Again, your plastic surgeon will be your best resource. Best wishes; hopefully, you will be very pleased with the long-term outcome of the procedure performed.

Answer: Ice packs I would first of all call your doctors office to rule out any major issues. As long as no major issues exist, ice packs are appropriate to help with discomfort. I would not recommend ice however if a lift was done simultaneously.

Answer: Can I use ice packs? The tightness and shortness of breath is normal and most likely the symptoms you are experiencing are slightly increased because your history of asthma. Try taking deep, yoga type breaths, and that should notice that the shortness of breath starting to improve. If your plastic surgeon went over massaging techniques with you then you should start massaging lightly to help the skin relax. Once the skin relaxes and the implants become more mobile you will notice the discomfort you are experiencing will start to improve. Usually icing the surgical area with in the first 48 hours of surgery is helpful with swelling and some of the pain. At this point you can try to see if icing the area to see if it helps, and you can do so by icing 15 minutes and removing the ice for 15 minutes, and repeat as needed.
