How to Eliminate Scars from Cold Sores?

Hi. I suffer from recurrent cold sores/HSV1 which usually only occur on the roof of my lips or above my lips and below my nose (never exclusively on my lips). I had a particularly bad outbreak in January, and as a result, I have what seems to be a permanent pink distinguished scar on my upper lip. Are there are treatments or creams to reduce the scar? I've been applying ice, and orally taking vit. E and zinc supplements lately but it doesn't seem to be working. Thanks in advance for your help.
