Can Nipple Surgery Correct Protruding Nipples?

Can excessively protruding nipples be corrected by nipple surgery? I'm a 22 year old male and mine noticeably stick out. I think it's embarrassing.

Nipple reduction

Thanks for your question - In our San Francisco area practice we routinely perform nipple reduction procedures under local anesthesia.  Small incisions can be used to reduce extra nipple skin and the tissue lying underneath. I hope this helps.

Male Nipple Reduction

Thank you for the question. Nipple reduction for men is a good procedure to treat prominent nipples. I do this procedure by removing a segment of nipple and covering the area with a superior nipple flap. The degree of flattening (most men want the result to be almost flush with the areola) can be tailored to the patient's requests. The procedures done under local anesthesia, requires very little downtime and is highly patient pleasing. I hope this... more

22 yo protruding male nipples

Unlike most female nipple protrusion, male protrusion is generally due to underlying glandular tissue beneath the nipple as opposed to the actual length of the nipple. There are several ways to approach this situation. Removing the gland in whole or in part can be done with direct excsion through an open wound or with suction of the gland to remove the tissue through 1-2 mm incisions. The later heal with almost no visible scar and the gland can be collapsed to the size you desire... more

Excessively large nipples can be reduced.

There are a variety of techniques for reducing excessively large nipples.  Most of these procedures can be done under local anesthesia.   They generally involve excision of an overly projection nipple. Seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can  evaluate you and discuss your options in detail.

Yes, but it depends whether it is the nipple itself of the brown area around the nipple which is prominen

The answer to this is yes, but it depends whether it is the nipple itself of the brown area around the nipple which is prominent. This area is called the areola. If you simply have protrude nipples and nipple reduction technique can be performed under local anesthetic and is normally very effective. For puffiness underneath the areolar, more extensive operation would need to be performed which removes the excess breast tissue beneath this area which causes the puffiness. In... more

Nipple reduction for males and females

There are several different techniques used for for both males and females to reduce the nipple width and height (nipple size). I have been performing a Brazilian technique which gives very good results with no visible scars. I perform this procedure under local anesthesia and there is no downtime.

Nipple reduction surgery in men

Nipple reduction surgery can be performed under local anesthesia through small incisions that are generally inconspicuous.  Men who have undergone nipple reduction usually describe greater confidence when wearing a T-shirt or a swimsuit.

Nipple reduction

Nipple reduction is a great procedure, especially in men and in women who are done with childbearing and breast feeding.  I wedge out about 1/2 of the nipple and then fold the remaining 1/2 down and stitch aound the edge.  It works like a charm, can be done under local anesthesia and the recovery is quick.  I've never had someone say "Gee, I wish I still had those big, long nipples". Surgical options for protruding nipples

There are many options to correct protruding nipples. The most important first step is to be evaluated by board-certified plastic surgeon. Your surgeon should evaluate you and determine the underlying cause of the shape of your nipples. Many times, this can also be seen with other breast changes such as a tuberous breast or breast asymmetry. The nipple recon touring may be performed at the same time as a breast surgery to help establish good balance throughout the breast and... more

Reducing protruding nipples on men

Yes, you certainly can reduce protruding nipples.  Protruding nipples on men can be a very embarrassing condition, but can easily be treated using local anesthesia.

Nipple surgery usually helps protruding nipples

Nipple reduction is not a common request in men. First we need to figure what part of the nipple is bothersome.... the nipple itself, the surrounding pigmented areola or both. In men it is usually both. This can be a minor case of gynecomastia and a relatively simple reduction can improve it. Best Regards.

Nipple reduction surgery

Large, protruding nipples in both men and women can be made smaller by a short surgical procedure called nipple reduction. It can be done in the office under local anesthesia and the small scars are usually unnoticeable. The amount that the nipples are reduced can be tailored depending on what the patient wants.

Correcting large nipples

Large nipples can be corrected by reduction of the tip of the nipple. For men, it is easy and with minimal risks. For woman, reduction will preclude them from breast feeding in the future.

Nipple reduction in men

Yes, this can be performed and I have had occasion to reduce excessive nipple prominence in both men and women. In men, this occasionally requires excision of redundant breast tissue beneath the areola as can be seen in mild cases of gynecomastia.

Protruding Nipple Correction

You can correct over-protruding nipple easily in the office setting under local anesthesia. The amount of reduction is determined by you and your plastic surgeon. This seems to be an issue that concern both man and woman. The recovery time is usually one to two weeks and pain is minimal.

Correcting enlarged nipples

Nipple size is dependant on genetics, development, and the size of the breast and areola. In patients who are concerned that their nipples are abnormally enlarged, a simple surgical procedure can correct the nipples to reduce their size without affecting nipple sensation. I routinely perform this surgery in an outpatient setting.

Yes it is possible

Nipple reduction surgery can decrease the projection of an excessive nipple. It can be done under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort or recovery. It is more commonly done in women but there's no reason a man couldn't have it done.

Nipple hypertrophy or enlargement

Enlarged nipples can be treated by a very small procedure to reduct the height of the nipple protrusion. This can be done under local anesthesia.

Protruding nipple correction depends on the problem

Depending upon the reason for the protrusion, you might need either a procedure that directly reduces the length of the nipple itself, or one that helps reduce the fullness underneath. The first technique simply removes the excess nipple tissue itself. The second would involve removing any fat or breast tissue that is responsible for pushing the nipple forward. As always, your best recommendation is to make an appointment to see a plastic surgeon who can examine you and give you a precise... more

Protruding nipples can be corrected

It is usually called nipple reduction and yes there is surgery to correct that. It is commonly performed in women, but I have performed it in men as well. It can usually be done under local anesthesia with some sedation. Hope that helps.

Protruding nipples can be corrected with surgery

You may be describing gynecomastia or excessive male breast tissue, and that is surgically treatable. That typically involves the nipple/areolar complex which you may be referring to as just the "nipple". If you specifically have just the nipple protrude too much, that is also treatable with a simple procedure. More commonly, however, men have excessive breast tissue or gynecomastia, and that can be treated with removal of the breast tissue. At times, liposuction is also useful to... more

Nipple reduction surgery is done by removing a section of the protruding nipple and suturing it on itself. This could be done under local anaesthesia. Good luck!

Nipple reduction is not an uncommon request

Nipple reduction is not an uncommon request. Although I perform many more breast procedures on females, it is interesting that I find that more males request 'nipple reduction'. This procedure is often performed differently for males and females. I find that most males prefer their nipples to be as small or least protruding as possible. This procedure is performed under local anesthetic in about one-half an hour.
