I've heard that you can use Botox around the upper lip to make the fuller. How many units does that take?
I do not recommend Botox injections to the lip. I have never heard of plumping the lip with Botox. Some people inject the upper lip to soften fine lines, but it can cause a lip droop.
There is a great misconception that Botox Cosmetic plumps the lips or helps fill out smile lines. This is absolutely false. If there is a doctor or injector telling you this, then do not let them touch you. Botox Cosmetic works by paralyzing the underlying muscles which helps reduce the overlying dynamic lines. There is no volume to Botox. If you are looking for volume, then you need a dermal filler such as Juvederm or Evolence for the smile lines and lips and Radiesse or the cheeks.
Miss Nataleigh,
Botox can indeed be used to augment the lips. It does not have a direct filling effect, but by relaxing the muscle which tightens the upper lip in a horizontal direction it allows the upper lip to evert slightly, showing more of the vermilion (pink portion of the lip). It usually takes somewhere between 5 and 8 units. The lip weakening may cause difficulty drinking with a straw, whistling, smoking and kissing. Good luck!
Hi.
This is a common misconception. Botox can raise the corners of the mouth, and help to erase upper lip lines. But it has no role in lip augmentation.
Juvederm is a good filler for lip augmentation.
