Answer: How long after breast augmentation surgery do you have to wear the strap? I presume the strap you are referring to is a narrow stretchable band with a Velcro connection placed at the top of your breasts. If this is the case it has likely been placed to help hold the implants down to fill the lower part of your breasts. When a subpectoral implant is placed the muscle can push the implants upwards and result in a higher than ideal position when healing is completed. The Velcro strap helps prevent this. Very likely your surgeon will discontinue this treatment when he or she is satisfied that your implants are in a good position. Very often this takes 2-4 weeks. I tell my patients that they can wear a sports bra immediately after surgery and refrain from wearing an underwire bra for 6 weeks. Good luck

Answer: Breast Band after Augmentation Thank you for your question. The duration of the breast band depends on a lot of factors. Often it is not needed at all. If it is needed, usually a textured implant will require it for a longer time and an implant under the muscle will require it for a longer time. Usually it is left in place until the implants are close to their intended position. The best approach is to ask your plastic surgeon; he or she will know exactly how the surgery was performed and weigh all of these factors to give you the best advice. Best wishes.

Answer: Post-Op Garments Thank you for your question. Every plastic surgeon is different in their approach for post-operative care after a breast augmentation. In my practice, each patient receives a customized post-operative plan because not everyone heals the same way. I suggest you speak with your PS or contact their office to find out what their recommendation is for you. For many patients in my practice, wearing a regular (non push-up) bra or swimsuit 4 weeks after surgery is a possibility- however, I cannot stress enough the importance of having this conversation with your PS first. I hope this helps.
