It is very helpful to a surgeon in that you are communicating what you like.

Toby G. Mayer, MD answers: Can I ask for Jennifer Aniston's nose when getting a nose job?

Just like a haircut, can I walk into a plastic surgery consultation with a picture of Jennifer Aniston and say "I want that nose!"...or is that not helpful and doctors get mad at these types of requests?

If you see an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon he will explain that it gives him a starting point. However, that nose on your face may be inappropriate and not "fit your face". Look for a surgeon whoose overall rhinoplasties you like and are natural appearing.

Hello,

A physician would not get mad about the request. It is important to understand that the nose of another individual is tailored to that individual. You may be inclined to point out aspects of that individuals nose that you like, and ask your physician to try and obtain a similar effect. But ultimately, it comes down to what is the best fitting nose for your face.

If a doctor gets mad when you ask for Aniston's nose, find another surgeon. Certainly you cannot have her nose, but it does give the physician an idea of your aesthetics. It is a starting point to discuss how your nose can be improved. After evaluating the existing nose, the procedure should be individualized  to compliment the surrounding facial features.  In over thirty years I've never done the same nose twice.
