Total healing at least 6 months

Steven H. Schuster, MD answers: How long does it take to heal after a nose job?

When should I expect to be able to go out in public after a nose job, and when will the bandages come off?

The amount of time to heal following a rhinoplasty or nosejob varies with each patient. There are many factors involved. If the skin is very thick on the nose the time to the final result can easily be 12 months. A straight forward rhinoplasty with a little bit of tip work and a little bump with osteotomies (breaking the nose) can be fully healed in 6 months.

The more work done the longer it will take to see the final result or resolve all of the swelling. I am a firm believer the open technique takes longer to heal but is necessary achieve the best end result in some patients.

Discuss this with your doctor. If you have important functions or photo shoots coming up be aware that your smile may be "funny" for several months after the surgery until the muscle heal completely. I am sure the wait for healing will be worth it for many years to come. Good luck with your surgery.
