Implants will not cause weight gain

Jeffrey Zwiren, MD answers: Can SUPER large breast implants lead to weight gain?

...as the body tries to compensate for out of whack body symmetry - I've been told that it was inevitable to gain weight in trunk and legs when one goes with huge implants- like 1000 cc's on a 5'3" 120 lb woman. True or not? I am considering a breast reduction, lift and much smaller implants - PS suggests lipo as diet and exercise have not worked for me to lose the 15 lbs I've gained since EXTRA LARGE implants were placed 2 years ago. Please Advise. Thanks

Large implants will not cause you to gain weight.  The same is true for using a smaller sized implant, it will not help you loose much weight.  The only weigtht loss that you may experience is from the implant itself.  An implant that is 1,000 cc weighs just over 2 pounds.  Large implants will cause many problems especially if your soft tissue can not support the weight.  Time, weight and gravity are not on your side.  Your plan for smaller implants and a breast lift sound appropriate depending on several factors such as the thickness of your breast tissue over the implant.  An experienced plastic surgeon will be able to help you achieve your goals.
